Download Manager driving me crazy

Norton Download Manager is popping up on the screen any time it things the computer is idle-- so, most annoyingly, when my kids or I are watching something. It just says "Another download manager is currently running. Please wait for it to complete and try again."  I'm decently computer savvy, and I have done everything I can, and I can't explain why this is happening.  At other times, the full Norton screen pops up asking me to update to the Windows 10 version. I can't do this-- I don't have Windows 10 on this computer. I am so frustrated with this that I am close to uninstalling and deleting the program if I can't make it stop.  Please help.

Dell Inspiron, Windows 7, Norton Security Suite.

Re: Download Manager driving me crazy

The message you are seeing about Windows 10 version does not require you to have Windows 10. What Norton has done, is brought all it's products up to date so they will be compatible with Windows 10 when and if you decide to upgrade. The Windows 10 compatibility is not the only thing updated, so it is still worth your while to accept the update.

Try allowing the update to Norton next time it pops up and see if the other messages stop.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Download Manager driving me crazy

I've tried to let it install, tried removing Norton.... STILL ON MY SCREEN! This SUCKS! Comes up about every 3-5 minutes!

Looks like it downloads, but doesn't install anything either.

Re: Download Manager driving me crazy

Hello JohnWhitmire64

Please take a screen shot of what you are seeing and post it here. It might be malware. I would suggest that you stop over at one of the free malware removal sites and have your computer checked out. Please run a full manual scan of your computer with your Norton program. If that comes up clean, then definitely stop over at one of the free sites.

Please see this link for an up to date description of these sites plus the addition of a newly listed site formed by one of our successful malware remover users. The new site is listed first in this link.

Please back and let us know how you made out.

Re: Download Manager driving me crazy

It's the same screen as the person above me on the thread. I have uninstalled all Norton Products and cleared them from my registry even, still this thing comes out of nowhere.

It creates a folder in Public Downloads and contains an executable with a digital signature from Symantec called FSDUI_Custom, (FSDUI.exe; version your download manager. I don't think this is malware...
