Empty Vault

Running N360PE.  Yesterday changed email address on all Norton accounts.  Today after being on a couple of hours Vault became empty.  Noticed I was one version behind so suspected a Norton auto update was being done.  Didn't look like it was running so I did it manually.  Vault remained empty.  Online Vault also empty.  Rebooted a couple of times, both remained empty.  I keep a hard copy but over 200 ID's between wife and myself.  Not sure if I did something wrong while updating email yesterday or something else.  Any help with either the cause of the problem or possible restore would be appreciated.  Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi,
Without a bit of assistance

http://www.norton.com/chat

the vault doesn't play well with account address changes. The backup, make changes then restore method works well.

Re: Empty Vault

Hi DayOlder,

Can you log into your Norton Account ( www.nortonaccount.com) by entering your email address and password using either the old or the new email address?

If you still have N 360PE  installed and running properly other than the ID Safe function.  OPlease go to the main page and select Support and then About and tell us the version number you are running.

Also tell us how you tried to update the version umber - running a manual LiveUpdate or trying to do a check for updates via the Norton Account or perhaps via Support > New Version Check?

Do you (or did you have) both a Local and an Online Vault?  Bear in mind there is no need to be loggged into you Norton Account to use the Local Vault.

Might as well tell us your operating system and browser of choice also and we might be able to go somewhere from there.

Please let us know the addtional info!

Re: Empty Vault

System :  Windows 8.0; IE 10: N360PE 21.0.1.3

I can get into both local and online vaults and they were both empty.  Everything else with Norton worked fine.  Have already recreated logins for around 100 IDs and both vaults are working fine.  Have about 100 more to go.  Thank goodness for hard copy.  I always thought the online vault would be my backup for the local vault but will begin backing up also.  I use Norton for my backups also so strange I can't do it through them.  Thank you for your time and suggestions.  I was just trying to figure out why it happened so I could avoid it again in the future.  Problem close.

Re: Empty Vault

Hi DayOlder,

Glad you feel you got it under control.  Perhaps just a suggestion.  Use the Export function of ID Safe.  In your version of N 360 it is located within the ID Safe function.  Open the Vault, click on the Open ID Safe App

Click on the Gear and then select the Import /Export option.  that will give you the following page from where you can select the Export function which will permit you to Export (backup) your ID safe Data and by Exporting to somewhere readily accessible (USB/Flash drive), it will be availiable for you to Import if you run in to a similar situation in the future.
