Error 14000, 126

Hi I keep getting the error message 14000, 126 I have followed the instructions to rename msmapi32.dll to old but I am still getting the same error message. One time I got a different instruction to remove and reinstall Norton 360 so I did that as well but the same error message still returns after a couple of days.

I have tried Norton support twice in the last couple of weeks but have not had any response

Hello GAH. If you have fast startup enabled disable it and reboot. Here is how. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-turn-off-fast-startup-windows-1...

Edited: When following this guide, in step #2 please note: "1033 folder is for English build of Outlook. If locale is different, the folder number will be different." Folder 1033 is for English, if your language is different the folder name will be a different one.

Cheers

I have the same issue since this morning with all my three computers. Perhaps Borton has a server problem.

Re: Error 14000, 126

Hello. Both of you, if possible please run the automated fix tool in your Norton UI if you can get the product to run for a minute or so. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v15756942

Also, in Norton settings see if you can disable the anti-spam setting. Restart and recheck.

Re: Error 14000, 126

Hi SoulAsylum.

Thanks for your help

I have turned off fast start up. I also ran the automated fix tool but it found no errors. I have also turned off the anti-spam setting.

So will have to wait to see if the error message returns

Thanks

Re: Error 14000, 126

Your most welcome, thanks for posting back. Lets see if this takes care of the issue. Renaming .dll files in my view, isn't a solution for the problem as stated in the Norton article.

Re: Error 14000, 126

Thanks for posting back. Posting a screenshot vice a pdf instruction are here. Its easier to see and doesn't present the security risks of opening a pdf file.

Not wanting to do another removal I believe its time for one. My recommendation is different than what Support may offer. Here is my next recommendation. Perform a "REMOVE ONLY" scenario using the guidelines in this article. Scroll down to the section named " I need help removing Norton". Please pay close attention to the marked steps in the screenshot below. DO NOT reinstall your product until you have removed it AND restarted your computer and allowed a full boot. Support at times will tell customers to remove the product then immediately reinstall which can and does cause issues to reappear so lets give this a go. Make sure that once you have the product reinstalled to allow the first live update to run which will be automatic. You may get one or more patches initially. RESTART after each one is installed whether prompted to or not. This is essential for proper installation and in the succession they should be installed. Get all live updates offered then reboot one more time. Please let us know what your results are.

Cheers

Re: Error 14000, 126

At my computers the error came for the first time on the 1st, September. A few hours ago I got an Office 2016 Update, perhaps that is the reason for the error. Do you also have Office 2016 on your machine?

Re: Error 14000, 126

Hi SoulAsylum

I have followed your removal and reinstall.

The error message has appeared again as soon as I opened outlook

Should I turn off the anti-spam setting again?

I am useing Office 365 however outlook does show as 2016 but I am upto date with all updates and this error was showing before the last one and is still happening now

Re: Error 14000, 126

No sir. I don't use Office 2016 but rather an older version of Office. My suggestion is checking your update history, If Update for Microsoft Outlook 2016 (KB4484511) is installed remove it and reboot.

There are 3 other Office 2016 updates that were released on September 1st. You both may want to remove them as well , reboot to validate whether these are the culprit. Microsoft updates bonging things is well documented over the past several years.

Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4484251)
Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4484395)
Update for Microsoft Office 2016 (KB4484500)

Please post back with your results.

Cheers

Re: Error 14000, 126

Hi. I am running 365 apps for enterprise and I have none of thoes updates.

I have checked in the program, and via updates in control panel and they both say there are no updates outstanding

The only updates I have had in September are for Windows but I did have a lot of updates for office on the 12/08/20

Re: Error 14000, 126

I have also just noticed my version of 365 is 2008 build 13127.20360 which appears to have a release date of 31/08/20

Re: Error 14000, 126

GAH.  You can use this Microsoft guide to repair the damaged file. If that doesn't correct the issue, and, If the Office 365 is licensed by your employer you should consult with your IT department. These errors are Outlook related as shown in the Norton article I previously posted.

Re: Error 14000, 126

I have been getting this message for at least a few weeks now. I have followed instructions to rename msmapi32.dll to old, however I keep getting the same error message a while after re-boot.  Even though the Norton AutoFix splashscreen shows up periodically during the day, it leads me to the same page to rename the above file.  I am running WIN 10 build 20206.rs_prerelease.20828-1431.  I have had no problems previously.

All the best.

Re: Error 14000, 126

@bashibazouk Your Windows build is a pre-release insider build, aka BETA. Norton products MAY run on this BETA OS installations however then are NOT officially supported to function correctly. If you have fast startup enable disable it and reboot. Recheck your install with the auto-fix again, let us know your results.

Cheers
