Error could not write to system volume\information\EfaData\SYMEFA.DB-journal
I have an external hard drive hooked up to my laptop running Windows XP SP3 and I tend to put the laptop when not using it. Frequently when resuming my laptop, I get a popup window with the following message:
Windows - Delayed Write Failed : Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\System Volume Information\EfaData\SYMEFA.DB-journal. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.
Now the external drive policy is set to "Optimize for quick removal" which is supposed to disable write caching. I disabled System Restore on the drive, but that didn't get rid of the error. I finally searched for SYMEFA.DB and apparently it has something to do with Norton Internet Security 2011 which I have installed. I also have Norton Utilities with Norton Protection enabled.
Is there some reason Norton is trying to write to the drive when the system is going into or out of Standby?
