Error Message When Backing Up Using Norton Save & Restore

Hi,

I'm trying to backup my entire C drive using Norton Save & Restore 2.0, but I get an error message that says:

"Cannot lock volume xxxx because it contains the OS or has an active paging file."

I have contacted Symantec tech Support and they told me that it was either a corrupt temporary file or a permissions issue, or both. Since my account is a member of the Administrators group and therefore has Full Control over the entire C drive, I don't believe that is the issue. But to convince them, I logged out and logged back in as Admin, and also ran a complete Disk Cleanup. Still, I got the same error.

Also, I have run NSR many times before on other computers running the same OS and have never got this error. On this particular computer, I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1 and have even closed all running apps prior to attempting to back up.

Does anybody have any idea what's causing this error?

Thanks

I've received some more information, and it appears that this error is due to the SymSnap driver not being installed right or the Norton Ghost service is not running. It might be a good idea to run the Norton Removal Tool and then reinstall your product. Be sure that you have the activation key and the product available for reinstall before you use the Norton Removal Tool.

I have edited this post from the previous one, as it gave some different information, and I wanted to give you the accurate information instead. Thanks!

I did delete all temp files but will also run chkdsk and report back.

Thanks
