error message when i run live update.

I have tried to run live update and get the following message.----  Not all the updates were successful.    Then when i try to rerun live update i get the same message.    I just had some ome get rid of a trogen called green av.   Do you think the problem with my live up date is because of that trojen?

Re: error message when i run live update.

I have no known trojans, yet am getting the same error, "Not all of the updates were successful." There is no detail provided.

I tried contacting Support, (Although they never once have successfully resoved a problem for me, I'm desperate!) by clicking on the Support link, and got a One Click Support message stating "Norton 360 Premier Edition has detected a possible problem with your network connection." That's odd, because I'm using the very same connection to post this message, and to view safe websites.

Anyone have any clues?

Thanks

Re: error message when i run live update.

Hi guys, for some time I have been getting "Failed to check for some updates" when I run Live Update. The Symantec tech guys tell me if there are no updates available then I will get that message. It doesn't sound right though because it used to always say something like "Your protection is up to date".Just out of curiosity have you been losing the N360 icon in the tray?Yesterday the N360 wouldn't open at all and as usual the only solution that the tech guys had was to yet again uninstall/reinstall it.I can't tell you how many times in the past 6 weeks that Symantec have reinstalled my N360.Today the icon in the tray has gone but at least I can open it from the desktop(for now).Full scans with both the 360 and Malwarebytes come back clean.I can't run the SysPrt scan because my pc will not accept me as the administrator.Symantec tried to fix that but couldn't.They couldn't tell me why it may be happening so I asked the question here and received no assistance. So good luck and I hope you get more help than I have received.I am now facing my 7th week of a problem riddled 360.Symantec have given me extra months on my subscription but what is the point if every 2nd day it isn't working.I have lost all faith with this product and the Symantec company.Message Edited by fuss7749 on 09-16-2009 07:52 PM

Re: error message when i run live update.

I also had my Norton startup icon disappear, which never had happened before.

I just called Norton. They are having a problem with their servers. They told me to go into symantec.com/autotools, click on Intelligent Updater, and select the file for my operating system. Download it, run it, and reboot. I did so, and after rebooting, I was able to get updates again. I'm glad to see that -- even if they do go down on occasion, they at least are improving their tech support!
