Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

The extension for Microsoft Edge is not showing in the browser yet AntiTrack is reporting it is protected in the managed browsers section of the app. This means I cannot install it again on this browser. The browser is not showing it in the extensions tab. It is however showing the Norton Safe Web and Password Manager extensions. All Norton apps are up to date.

I had to re-install AntiTrack to try and get the private email working according to the support advice as it was saying my Microsoft Edge browser was Firefox. It is still reporting my browser as Firefox. Latest version of Microsoft Edge Version 118.0.2088.69 (Official build) (64-bit).

No messages as there is no AntiTrack extension installed.

Hmm....is Edge or Firefox your default browser?

Does Norton AntiTrack install recognize your installed browsers?
Meaning, is that the way Norton AntiTrack install is supposed to work?

Sorry, I've not seen Norton AntiTrack.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Edge is the default but I do also have Chrome and Firefox installed. Chrome and Firefox are both showing their extensions installed and working. The Edge extension however is not working as I am getting all adverts on any website. Nothing is blocked.

When you open the Norton AntiTrack app the left hand side of the main screen is saying 3 browsers protected. When I click on "Manage" the screen lists Chrome, Edge and Firefox as protected. Yet there is no extension installed in Edge and no option to install it.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

I recall something about AntiTrack only runs in browser default profile.
Does your Edge have more than the default Edge profile?

fwiw ~ make Chrome default - restart machine
any change?
reinstall AntiTrack with Chrome as default, as test.

something went wonky with the new private email?
Or, Edge 118.0.2088.69 bork'd AntiTrack?

Ya think Edge tracking prevention is bumping into Norton Anti-Track?

Is Norton AntiTrack better than browser tracking protection &or browser extension privacy filter?

Firefox has Firefox Monitor & Firefox Relay.
Edge and Firefox have tracking protection.
Chrome is getting tracking protection feature.
Malwarebytes Browser Guard claims to block third party ads/trackers.
Malwarebytes new offering.  Malwarebytes Identity Theft Protection
I run uBlock Origin & MBG.  I block third-party cookies.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

All the browsers use the default profile as I am the only user.

No change changing default to Chrome as it was already working with it.

No idea if it is linked to private email as it does not recognize my browser as Edge but as Firefox (default if browser not recognized).

Edge tracking is currently off but may have to activate it again as AntiTrack is NOT working. There is no Norton AntiTrack extension installed to enable. Though the AntiTrack app still insists it is enabled.

Do not use third party anti-track or identity protectors as they sometimes conflicts with Norton's versions.

It is not connected to .NET as I just updated it half an hour ago with no change.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Just checked my subscriptions page on Norton website and AntiTrack is showing setup required but I cannot set it up as the instructions tell me to go to the app and click on "Manage" and then "Enable" on Edge but it is showing as enabled already.

Can AntiTrack extensions be removed sans uninstalling Norton AntiTrack?
Uninstall Norton AntiTrack & extensions => Reinstall does not help?
Hoping, Norton AntiTrack users chimes in.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Reinstalling does not help. The app just shows that Edge is still managed by a non-existent extension. I cannot uninstall an extension that is not there.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Have you tried looking for the extension on the edge store?

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Tried both Edge and Chrome stores only Norton Safe Web, Password Manager and Family available. Searching for AntiTrack only results in McAfee's version (will not use any of their apps as I had issues with their firewall app when it came out blocking EverQuest MMORPG and switched to Norton) and two other Ad blockers I have never heard of.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Does anyone know if Norton does a Remove and Reinstall tool for AntiTrack as I know there is one for 360?

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Hi,

Thank you for posting on the Norton Community. Could you please update Edge to the latest version 118.0.2088.76 (Official build) (64-bit) and check the issue status? Let us know what you see. Thank you.

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Edge updated last night. Same issue there is no Norton AntiTrack extension showing under Edge's manage extension tab and the AntiTrack app itself still proclaims the extension is installed under the "Manage" tab.

Is there a way to force AntiTrack to ignore the "Managed" settings so I can reinstall the extension?

Re: Extension on Microsoft Edge missing

Hi,

Thanks @Filbert136 the link worked. The extension has reinstalled and is working properly. How did you find the extension as all my searches missed it.

The only thing that I have lost is the data from the previous install of the app as I now have to retrain it again although the extension seems to have kept its data somehow (probably what was confusing the app as it was probably only checking the extension folder's existence and thinking the extension was installed).

To everyone else who helped thanks for the assistance.
