Extension Not Working Despite Showing "Enabled" i Google Chrome

1:14 A.M. EST/Friday/Dec. 9, 2016

I am a paid subscriber to Norton which gets me nowhere. Despite Identify showing it is configured and Extension in Google Chrome all show "Enabled," I do not see it when I log into chrome.  It's here then it's not here most days.

This has been an on going problem.

Are you actually logged into Chrome? Or are you referring to merely opening up Chrome? Which version of Norton and Chrome are you using? What other extensions are you running?

I am having the same problem. Norton Security version 22.8.1.14, Chrome version 54.0.2840.99 m (64-bit). This problem began with my last reboot. Also, I have been using the ^ to remove the toolbar from certain pages (like google search results) because the toolbar hides part of the web page. But now the toolbar doesn't appear and web logins are not filled in even with identity safe activated from the builtin Norton taskbar icon.

Please update your Google Chrome to version 55.0.2883.87.

OK, Chrome updated itself to 55.0.2883.87. This did not help one bit.

If you want to use the Identity Theft feature the toolbar needs to be showing all the time. I myself do not use Identity Theft cause LastPass is a lot better. So you are hiding the toolbar cause it blocks some webpage content due to its size. Then if you have it hidden Identity Theft login does not work correctly. Right?

Re: Extension Not Working Despite Showing "Enabled" i Google Chrome

I am not using Identity Theft, I am using Identity Safe. This is a password repository. The Identity Safe toolbar is now missing. When using certain sites, the Norton Identity Safe toolbar uses some of the web page display area, but provides a mechanism (a ^ button) to remove it for that page. One of the pages that this occurs on is the google search results page. When I do a follow-up modification to the search, the original search is partially hidden by the Norton toolbar. I have to remove the identity safe toolbar in this instance. Note that there will never be a password to fill in on a google search. This can only occur when the search is followed to some login page. Please note: IDENTITY SAFE is no longer working with Chrome. Passwords are not filled in. I had to switch from Firefox to Chrome because IDENTITY SAFE didn't (and still doesn't) work with Firefox. Please either provide some sort of workaround for this problem or keep quiet. My system is 100% up to date. I reboot infrequently, and everything was working properly before that reboot. Something changed in either Norton or Chrome or both so that the IDENTITY SAFE toolbar no longer appears and its password management function no longer works. That's IDENTITY SAFE that's not working. Not anything else.

Sorry Identity Safe. I mean to say that. Did you try reseting Google Chrome? Again I do not use Identity Safe to store my passwords cause LastPass is a lot better. Are all your Norton Extensions up to date? Norton Identity Safe extension is 1.0.5.

Re: Extension Not Working Despite Showing "Enabled" i Google Chrome

I went to the Norton security help page, which runs an autofix program. This recommended downloading Norton Remove and Restore to reinstall the product. I did this (which downloaded very slowly after quickly reaching the 50% mark,) rebooted, ran live update until there were no new updates to process (one 40M, one 80M update, maybe one other quick update) and started chrome. (These Norton updates ran at the usual network speeds, i.e. quickly.)

After doing this the Identity Safe feature was back! Not only that, but now it even seems to work in Firefox (after overriding the "Mozilla doesn't like this add-on" message.) All that's left to do now is to make sure that all other the Norton customization settings are reset. So, somehow my Norton product got corrupted but the remove/reload fixed it.

Re: Extension Not Working Despite Showing "Enabled" i Google Chrome

After Windows 10 installed KB3201845 when I was doing a reboot my Norton Identity Safe was broken.  It was there but would not open.  I removed KB3201845 and now Norton Identity Safe is once again working.
