Family Not Limiting Time Properly

I recently installed Family on my Daughter's computer (Windows 10 PC.)  I'm trying to limit the number of hours per day she can spend on the computer, as well as prevent her from using the computer too late in the day.

The bedtime function seems to work fine controlling access too late in the day, but I can't get the limit on the number of hours per day to work.  The software is showing me what sites she's on and what videos she's watching, so it appears to be installed correctly on her computer.

I currently have the limit set at 3 hours per day, and have selected the High/Block Supervision Level.  The software is giving me an alert that she has used more hours than are allowed, but it is not limiting her access when she exceeds the allowable time.  She is not using the PIN to give herself more time (she did once, I got an alert she did, and I changed the PIN.)

Does anyone have any ideas how to get this to work correctly?

Thanks.

Re: Family Not Limiting Time Properly

Hi Jmos,

Thanks for reaching out to the Norton Family forum.

Upon analyzing the backend data, we notice for the past 3 days, there are time extension requests from the child's device and all of them have been approved with "rest of the day" from Norton Family Web Portal.

To check this, please login to Norton Family web portal, in Alerts tab you would see that the child has requested a time extension and action taken would have been allowed for rest of the day.

This is the reason for the child being able to access the device for the entire day.

Could you please check and confirm if the child has access or credentials to login to Norton Family Web Portal?

Please check if you have installed Norton Security in signed-in mode on the child's device as well.

Thanks,

Norton Family Team

Re: Family Not Limiting Time Properly

Thanks for the input.  I spoke to my Daughter and she says she'll get a Family warning she has 60 second left before her time is up.  After that Family boots her back to the log on screen.  Then she simply logs back on normally and goes about her business!

I doubt she has the logon credentials (but it's not impossible.)

Her computer is running Norton 360; how do I tell if she is in the "signed in mode?"  I don't see that when I open 360.

Thanks.
