FBI MoneyPak Virus

Hi, we got the Money Pak virus. We are on a Dell desktop 64 bit Windows 7. For whatever reason, F8 does not take us to safe mode. We do not have a back up. In order to run Norton Power Eraser you have to connect to the internet, but as soon as we do that the virus pops up and locks the computer again.

Side question: If we plug my laptop into our internet source, will the virus get onto my laptop? May sound silly, but want to be cautious.

If you can get into safe mode, I could probably help you with this problem, it's just a registry drop but you can't access that w/o being able to control your computer.  I'm actually coming to these forums today to see when norton plans on adding some support to block this particular intrusion as it's hitting me as well.

Far as F8 not taking you into your options so you can launch safe mode...what kind of keyboard do you have?  I have a few keyboards but the one I use for day to day is a gaming keyboard, specifically the logitech g510.  I'm assuming it has something to do with how "techy" this keyboard is but when I use this keyboard and try to use F8 it will not work either.  Being a gaming keyboard it comes with drivers and software and all that so my assumption is that for some reason the keyboard isn't fully "booted up" so to speak so it's not reading quite early enough for F8 to work.

Anyway, my poin there is that once I plug in my basic usb keyboard I have no issues hitting F8 to get to options so I can launch safe mode.  So, if you also use maybe a very nice keyboard, try using just a very basic ps2 or usb keyboard if you have one laying around, if not grab once at a local electronics store for 10 bucks and try using that.

Unfortunately I don't know how to address your issue if you can't at least get into safe mode or safe mode with command prompt.

Which is why you should stay out of it,

For starters one log I have looked at today has more then FBI moneypak to deal with,  yet every novice giving advice is not dealing with that , just one variant of FBI.
