A few options still missing after latest version update

Have no default scan option in settings. Still have to manually choose between scan options. VPN turns on by itself. Interferes with some Streaming apps (Spectrum app loses local and some channels). Still can't locate isolation mode for on line banking. Pushing help button doesn't display latest Norton version installed. Have to go to properties to see latest version 22.22.11.12.

Re: A few options still missing after latest version update

For the VPN make sure autoVPN is off in the settings.

There is no longer isolation mode in Norton Safe Web.

Re: A few options still missing after latest version update

To look for the extra scan options, be sure you are logged into Windows with an admin user account.

As already noted, the banking isolation mode is no longer used. The other features in the 360 product provide the same protection.

To see the Norton version, open the classic 360 interface and click on Help > About. If you have the new My Norton interface showing, click on Open beside Device Security to open the classic interface.

Re: A few options still missing after latest version update

Hi peterweb,

Thanks for the info. I do use the Norton classic interface and I can pick which scan to use but a recent upgrade said I should be able to default the scan I want but there is no default button for me to make Quick scan as my default. It's always showing Smart scan. Also who should I contact at Norton about correcting my subscriptions expiration date. My 2021 subscription was to expire on 07-22-2022 however I purchased and installed my 2022 subscription in April. Norton didn't extend the expiration date to July 22. I feel they shorted me 3 months off my 2021 subscription. Doesn't Norton add on any remaining days you have left from your last subscription even though I installed my newer subscription before the old one expired ? EXPIRED ON: 7/12/2022 now it shows Subscription renews on : 4/15/2023. What happened to the days I still had left ? Thanks for your help.

To be able to get the default scan choice, you need to be logged into your Windows with a Windows administrator user account. You cannot access that setting with a Standard Windows user.

Your subscription issue is caused by purchasing a new subscription instead of using the actual Norton Renewal process. A renewal will add the days to your existing subscription, but will be more expensive. Purchasing and activating a new subscription does not connect the new product key to your old subscription. One thing to keep in mind going forward... If you purchase a new subscription directly from Norton, your new subscription is activated as soon as you pay. If you purchase from a reputable retailer, you can hold on to the new key until your current subscription expires and use the key at that time.

If you accidentally activate a new subscription before your current subscription expires, you can contact Norton Support and ask them to add the time from the new subscription to the old one.      www.norton.com/contactcs   If using the chat function, as soon as you can enter any information, enter "agent please". That will get you out of the chat bot and connected to a human.

You are beyond the 60 day time limit for refunds, so there is probably not much you can do to recoup the time you lost. You could try contacting Support to see if they can help, but don't get your hopes up.

Re: A few options still missing after latest version update

To peterweb,

I am signed in windows as administrator. In Norton classic view I can schedule what scan to run at what time I choose. I guess what I'm asking is can I change what scan appears in the yellow oval that shows "Run Smart Scan" to "Run Quick Scan". Is there a way to change that. Thanks for the other info about the subscription issue. I'll contact Norton and see if their willing to add more days to my current subscription.

Again Thanks for your advice and knowledge of the Norton System.

Check this Norton product announcement for instructions on how to change the default scan.

FWIW ~ my My Norton - Default Scan setting is missing too. (even at Recommended scaling & 100 Recommended resolution).  Maybe, Upgrade Now offer crowds out the Default Scan setting.

To peterweb,

Still no button or icon to change default scan to Quick Scan. Read the link doesn't give me any options in Classic Norton screen or in My Norton screen. Thanks for the help. Don't understand why some subscribers get features and others do not.

Re: A few options still missing after latest version update

To  bjm,

Sure would like to know how Norton decides which subscribers get some features and others do not. I guess because I don't go through the renewal process each year so I can pay triple the price instead of getting a new key every year at retail store at half the cost. Just a thought.

Find the version number of your Norton product

If you want to upgrade your Norton product or want to reach the customer support for assistance, you must know the full version number of the Norton product installed on your computer. This helps you get exact solution for your problems.

Norton device security for Windows ›

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click Open.

  2. In the Norton product main window, click Help.

  3. In the Help Center window, under General Information, click About.
