How soon can I expect the new patch for Firefox 39 support for Norton Toolbar to show up in my LiveUpdate (I have Norton Security With Backup)?

I tried that, but still no luck. Maybe they're rolling it out a little later for us here in Europe?

I am having the same issue; I have done everything and it will not update. I am in the US. And why was "Ah, Stay tuned." marked as a solution?

Wondered that myself....this is my macro FWIW.

Please see Firefox 39 Support for Norton Toolbar Announcement

Toolbar and ID Safe are compatible with FF39 and children eg: FF39.x.x
Recommended protocol is to have Norton compatibility patch installed and settled in before manually updating Firefox.
Toolbar version number as posted to the Announcement indicates patch is installed and settled.
Recommended setting for Firefox updates is "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them"
Menu Bar > Tools > Options > Advanced > Check for updates

Caveat: The NRnRT is supposed to work with the Comcast Norton Security Suite - but usually throws a message that a Norton Product could not be detected on the system.
EDIT: last I heard NRnR Tool does not support 22.5.0.124

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Thanks bjm_. I have the same for Firefox update setup as you. I have tried the other LU's as well and never had an issue until now this Firefox release with NS.

FWIW - I had this on another PC and finally did a Norton Removal and then reinstall (once everything Norton was removed and running CCleaner on registry). That installation finally worked for LU. But my issue is I have NSBU on 9 PCs and I really do not want to deal with this.

NORTON TEAM - is there a way to do a manual update of the toolbar? I did get new antivirus updates and have been, so it seems to be toolbar related. Having to jump through these hoops and extra steps every time is really a PITA.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Well, as it's weekend.  Lets start with confirm NSBU version number and current Firefox Toolbar version number and if you're on W8.1 confirm state of Fast Startup.

Kudos0

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

NSBU - 22.2.0.31, Toolbar - 2015.2.1.13

Fast Startup enabled but I did do a full shutdown (Win+X menu) and did not help. I may have to do the NRnR approach since it is close to what I did on the other PC.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Well, there may be other issues at play.  Current NSBU is 22.5.0.124 and current FF Toolbar (just for info) is 2015.5.0.113 Permalink
Please confirm your OS and please remain at FF38... if you're not already at 39...
WinX does hybrid.  Only 'reboot' is immune from Fast Startup.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Hello bjm

As of Jun3 24

The Norton Removal Tool(NRT) and Norton Removed and Reinstall Tool (RNR) have been updated to support 22.5.0.124 product (English only). Other languages will be updated soon

That was quoted to me by Norton Admin. So since 22.5.0.124 is now being distributed to foreign languages, perhaps the Tools are being updated for foreign languages also. I think that NS & NSBU will be available in foreign languages very soon. That was as of either Friday or Saturday as to when NS & NSBU will be pushed out in other languages.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

bjm_ - I tried full shutdown from CMD (as admin) and no go. I am on Windows 8.1 x64. I ran NRnRT and it got everything up to date so thanks for the tip on it. Firefox is good as well.

NOTE: It has happened now on two PCs that came from the previous version (NIS) and one I got a refund on the remaining subscription when I transferred 9 PCs from 3 NIS licenses to one NSBU (which supports 10 PCs). It is most likely some garbage laying around causing issues

Thanks again

Hello

Please disable Fast Startup and save yourself lots of problems with Norton as well as other programs. This is why the site has created these instructions.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Hi

I have win 7/64 pro and Norton security 22.5.0.124 but have the Norton toolbar (2015.5.0.111) installed 5th June but do not use. cannot get the toolbar version 2015.5.0.113 to install uninstalled software yesterday, when reinstalled software and a patch installed still shows the 111 version of toolbar.

tried to keep checking via livedate but will not bring that update, just wonder if the 2015.5.0.111 is still on some servers servicing Europe???

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Hello

I don't think that the foreign language version toolbar has been released yet as the foreign language updates to 22.5 has not gone out for NS & NSBU yet to all. Thanks. Watch the Announcement for it to say that it has been released to all.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Hello

I was told that everyone should have the correct FF 39 add-on by now in all languages even if they don't have the 22.5.0.124 version yet. The Blog says to keep running Live Update and then restart your computer and then run Live Update again a few times and keep doing this cycle until the correct version for your program version comes through. Please check to see if that .dll hasn't been quarantined. Check also to see if that .dll has been enabled. I forgot the command to tell if it is enabled though.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

I can tell you I do not have NIS 22.5.0.124 but 22.2.0.31 (Dutch language). And I have the 2015.2.1.13 toobar and not 2015.5.0.111 and therefor no working IS toolbar in Firefox 39.0 So not the newest versions and no matter how many times I do a live update check for updates of NIS it wil not install the newest versoins of NIS and the toolbar. So my conclusion is the translated versions are not availble yet. I would seriously like to have the option to buy the English version of NIS in the future as the delay in the realese of translated version updates I consider as a seriuos security risk. You are always behind with a translated version, this is not acceptable to me !

Yesterday, I read.  There's no FF39 support for v22.x
Stay tuned...

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

I used the Norton Removal Tool to remove NIS. Then reinstalled it after which I could upgrade to the newest version 22.5.0.124. I do not know why this was not possible with the previous install of NIS. The Norton tool-bar is back in FF 39 version with number 2015.5.0.113.

Much appreciation.  Great feedback.  Thanks
Did you use pre-activated install from your Norton account..?   Or, standalone installer.
Did you Control Panel uninstall before Norton Removal Tool..?  Did you save settings..?

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

I used the stand alone installer from disk to reinstall and I saved my settings before uninstalling, Not sure what you mean by "Did you Control Panel uninstall before Norton Removal tool" but I used the Norton Removal Tool straight away.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

As I had the same problem on my laptop, missing Norton Toolbar in FF 39 and NIS not willing to update itself to the latest version I decided to try and download the latest version from my Norton account. This time I did not use the Norton Removal Tool but installed the downloaded latest version straight away. This worked too and in considerable less time then having to use the removal tool. End-result is the same latest NIS and latest working Norton toolbar in FF 39.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Great,   as you know.  Install from old disk will be dated.  Please run Live Update till no updates.  Restart.  Run again.

Presume you run Norton Security as there was no NIS 22.2.0.31
Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

I did no worries. I have been a NIS user for more then a decade. ;) Hope this helps others with missing toolbars.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Still not valid in Polish version of Norton Security with backup!!!

After plenty of tries live update and update product, nothing changed: still 22.2.0.31 and Norton Toolbar 2015.2.1.13 - not compatible with Firefox 39.

What's going on with NIS PL (Polish version)???

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Did you try to download the latest version of NIS from the Norton account website ? Click on help in NIS then account, login, click on devices (or your language translation for that) and click Download Norton and install. Do a live update and after that you should have your toolbar back. It worked for me.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Thank you very much for secret key :)
It is strange that only "Download Norton and install" works.
Before I tried Live update & upgrade product all tries with communicate "You are up-to-date"

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Yes Symantec needs to work on that i think. It would also be nice if the NIS software could inform and download new versions of the NIS engine and not only virus updates. By thanks for "secret key" i think you mean thanks for solution as i did not send you any key for NIS. Just to make that clear for everybody ;)

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Hello Martin

All sorts of updates come through Live Update, not only virus updates. The foreign versions do take longer to get through is true. With 22.5.0.124, it has been taking longer than usual I must agree. Thanks.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

I am sorry but i do not agree floplot. I had to manually download and install the latest version on both my pc and laptop. It is true changes to the engine come through liveupdates as well, but my experience is that completely new versions of NIS do not. I have had this happening in the past and not only to my computers but to those of relatives as well. And we all use the standard settings in NIS, so nothing on our part could be preventing it. I really think Symantec should look into automating this proces.

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

I'm a bit late here - but I do believe the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool will accomplish the same thing as the methods mentioned above.

Kudos0

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Yes but it takes a lot more time and effort. Just download the latest version from your Norton account and install it over the exsisting install of NIS.
Kudos0

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Same here, overinstall helped, also Dutch language. I think Symantec is holding off LiveUpdate updates for foreign languages, because of the issues which still exist. The FF 39 toolbar however, is tied to 22.5.0.124 (plse. read announcement again), that's what i know by now.
A what's first problem : the chicken or the egg....

Re: Firefox 39 vs Norton Toolbar

Received my 2 updates 40 minutes ago (in The Netherlands), after a reboot the Toolbar could be activated in FF39.0 and when I did another update I received a patch in NS. This was on one PC, the others are apparently still waiting in a queue for the right updates/patch.
