firefox-patch.js malware popup

Urgent Firefox browser patch URL pops up and demands download of .exe file. It's a scam, but can't remove it with NPE, Norton Internet Security (doesn't find it), Malware Bytes, JRT, SpyBot, Kaspersky TDSS Killer.  UBlock seems to block it, but it's on the system. Moreover, ran its last URL (it changes every time it pops up), on https://www.virustotal.com, which runs a complete check of the URL and it comes back as "clean."  According to Spy Hunter, trying to find this is a long-term inefficient process; they claim to remove it, but if no scanner can find it, how can this company claim to remove it?

So, anyone who has solved this, please feel free to comment before I pay to have Norton investigate.

Re: firefox-patch.js malware popup

Spy Hunter is a joke and a scam. This is why they say this. If you simply use an ad blocker such as uBlock origin then you will be just fine. It's an ad. Not an infection. What webpage are you visiting that brings this up?
