"fix" button does nothing..

For my Norton 360 2.4.0.4

I purchased a new yearly subscriptio and it ran all sorts of updates.  After all these updates the "Fix" button does nothing - I have a problem with Identity Protection and PC Security according to it.  The "Fix" runs Liveupdate, which connects, then disconnects, without downloading anything and none of the issues go away.

I can run Live update manually, and it downloads some stuff, then disconnects, but doesn't fix my issue.  I've run liveupdate about 10 times and it's downloaded things all 10 times.  I'm assuming it's downloading updates and doesn't install them at all.  Weird?

Even with all these liveupdate downloads, it says my virus definitions are out of date and the last update was 10/6/08.

The identity protection states that my browser is not set up for it, but it is, the only thing is that the toolbar at the top says "Phising Protection Expired" on my browser, when it should be active (I bought a new yearly subscription)...

What's going on?

Re: "fix" button does nothing..

Can't edit messages...

Just wanted to add this:  When I complete liveupdate, the message states that "All protection and program files are now up to date." However the main application (read 1st post for more info) doesn't reflect this and still states my definitions were last updated on 10/6/08 and that I should "fix" it (aka run liveupdate..)

Re: "fix" button does nothing..

Mines the same have used the norton removal tool twice and re-downloaded N360. last time i used the online chat (about 6 times ive used online support including letting them remote control my computer and change settings)  they suggested i did this again i refused due to a/ it didnt work the first 2 times & b/ it cost me a considerable ammount of my monthly usage as i have a small download account on a wireless network. i also continually have to activate my product every time i start my computer.

I suggest you to follow the document . If the issue still persists, follow the steps in the document fix

Just for future needs -- you can edit your message during a short period (15 minutes?) after you post so that it is possible to quickly correct something that, if you are like me, you spot as soon as you hit the POST button .....

Click on Options up top right on the message in question and use Edit Message -- if it's not there or grayed out it means it's out of time. The administrators did this to discourage changing a message after people have answered it on the basis of words no longer there!

Re: "fix" button does nothing..

Ive tried both the fixes you listed....one being the online support several times the other being n360 removal tool and re-downloading n360...twice.....neither have worked and the problem persists. have also tried other fixes on this forum and from norton help.  eg symrxts.exe... getting really frustrated.......and of more concern not feeling protected

Uninstall N360 via Add/Remove Programs, then reboot. Then delete:

   1.  (Admin Username)/Symantec Temp. Files
   2.  /Symantec
   3.  /Norton
   4.  /Norton Installer
   5. start>run>regedit>HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>delete "Norton" and "Symantec"
   6. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>delete "Norton" and "Symantec"

For Steps 5-6, make sure that you are on your local administrator account. Then:

   1.  Run Norton Removal Tool.
   3.  Install N360
