Hi @Clayto,

Thanks for reporting an issue in Norton Community Forums. Do you mean Error: "3039,1"? Could you please provide Norton product name, version number installed and Operating system details?

Re: Fix Tool for Error 3039,1

I apologies for my kb error, it should be 3099,1 --- it concerns Sonar I think?  Anyway, after a few more 'not fixed' notifications I got a 'fixed' one, so I think it is OK now. If not I will come back with the info requested.

Re: Fix Tool for Error 3039,1

The Error 3039,1 has reappeared. I followed the procedure and downloaded, then started to run the Remove and Reinstall tool. Unfortunately, after quite a long time uninstalling it "stopped working correctly" and closed down. I now cannot find Norton Security at all, presumably as it is partly uninstalled.

Because of this I cannot tell you version number of Norton Security. My OS is Windows 10 (Creators), justed updated.

Obviously I am anxious to get Norton up and running ASAP.

Re: Fix Tool for Error 3039,1

Hello Clayto Do you have any other antivirus / malware programs installed on the system? If so remove them as they will cause this error with Norton. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/microsoft-live-update-error-3039-error-65543/0831fdb4-6e48-472d-8b17-62b74f71bd6c?auth=1

Also, Windows 10 users are recommended to have "fast boot" disabled since it can cause file corruption due to an incomplete shutdown. Here is how to shut that off in case you do not know how:

https://community.norton.com/en/forums/windows-881-or-10-and-fast-start-feature-0

You should get the removal tool to uninstall your Norton product from only this link as it is the official tool. Follow the instructions in the article.

Re: Fix Tool for Error 3039,1

I used the Norton tool NrNR. During the Remove process uninstall 'stopped working correctly'. So I had Norton partly uninstalled and unable to launch. Reinstall. I than got a popup saying 'my version was out of date' and to install the new version from the link provided. It seemed to go well for a while, but then got stuck for a long time  (something to do with detecting error logs), before closing. This morning the Norton Security icon had appeared and everything now looks OK, it had updated yesterday and scan run a few hours ago.

FastBoot is not on my system . I have had Malwarebytes working alongside Norton for years without trouble --- as is claimed should be the case. I know about the problem that some AV programs interfere with each other.

Thanks for the links --- I will keep them as maybe they will be needed in future, though I have not hand much trouble with Norton over the years --- except over my account, apart from the over-zealous blocking of new programs which I reported in the Forum a while back. Recently I have been getting popups saying I have an insecure Wi-Fi connection which in not correct.

Re: Fix Tool for Error 3039,1

Clayto When you said "Fast-Boot is not on my system", are you saying its not enabled? Every install of Windows 8/8.1/10 HAS that setting built in, there is no way to remove it.

If you feel the thread has been solved please mark it as such so others may be able to find the solution. Have a grand day.

Re: Fix Tool for Error 3039,1

Not 'enabled'  might be more precise ---- however

Soon after I got my present 2-in-1 tablet PC I was advised that Fast-Boot was not and should not be enabled. I cannot find it using Everything and have kept clear of looking for it in the Power settings so I do not know if it is there or not. I understand it is really bad news for my device for reasons such as (1) small storage, so Hibernation  (nor Hybrid?)  mode cannot be used so Fast-Boot cannot work (2) it is Dual Boot, Windows and Android, which would cause HD access issues (3) access to UEFI may be obstructed (4) and maybe more.

Hence 'not on my system'.

Dual boot windows and android? I don't think I've ever seen that. What brand/model of computer do you have?
