Full scan not running

I have full system scan set to run every 30 days. Last full scan was 8 November ? (Quick scan is running OK every day).

If I look in Task Scheduler Library I see "Norton Security Scan" for every day "..... Nss.exe/scan-quick/scheduled", and there is also an entry "Norton WSC Integration" which I have no idea what it does.

I am running latest versions of Norton and Windows 10.

Any suggestions ?

Re: Full scan not running

Has the monthly scan run correctly in the past? Sometimes settings can get reset or muddled by Norton or Windows updates. Try going back into the scan settings an changing the scheduled scan to automatic. Be sure to click on Apply, then restart your computer. Now go back and set the scan to the monthly setting and click apply. Obviously you will have to wait a month to see if this fixes things.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Full scan not running

My scan history shows a full scan on 12 Jul, 11 Aug, 9 Oct. A bit strange as I have it set to scan every 30 days.

I think I will try the remove and reinstall. Will let you know what happens.

Re: Full scan not running

So I did the remove and reinstall yesterday and set for full scan every day. The full scan ran fine today so I guess that fixed it. I have set it back to run once per month now.

Before I reinstalled I deleted the two Norton scheduled tasks that I mentioned in my first post. The "Norton WSC Integration" task was replaced after the reinstall, but not the "Norton Security Scan" for every day "..... Nss.exe/scan-quick/scheduled", so I guess that was an erroneous entry left over from some previous version, and maybe that was interfering with the full scan.

Re: Full scan not running

Hi,

As our good friend 'peterweb' stated, things get reset after a Norton patch'/updates, my last 30 day monthly auto scan ran on 7 Nov similar to you so don't worry about it, this is normal. If you do a manual full scan today and a patch update is delivered in a few days then in 'Background Tasks' it will show full scan 'Never' in the list as it does with mine! There is no need to go uninstalling and re installing because of this. In fact one Symantec employee stated on here that full scans aren't really necessary at all.

Hope this helps and good luck

Re: Full scan not running

Hi brummie,

Thanks for your input. So it seems that a patch may reset the schedule for e.g. a monthly full scan. Does that mean it will get back on track at a later date and then continue doing a monthly scan ?

Re: Full scan not running

Hi Davec33,

This is how it has always been for me, seems like the 30 day countdown starts from the day, lets say when a new patch is installed. You will get back on track providing of course another patch update doesn't come through in the meantime! You could always schedule yours for say 7 days and see if that works and if all is well go back to 30 days. It has been like this for as long as I remember.
