Future of Norton Security Software

I do not want to purchase the CORE Router. With the release of the Core Router will Norton continue to produce security software packages that do NOT require the router hardware?

Re: Future of Norton Security Software

There is no reason for Norton to stop making the security software. Not everyone needs a new router, and Norton would be losing millions of customers if they stopped the software production.

Besides...The router does not provide AV protection, and you still need the software installed on your devices for full coverage.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

So, we will need to continue paying the subscription fee for the Norton Internet Security software.  To that we can add the $120/year subscription fee required for the Core Router (check out the FAQS for the Core Router -- Surprise!)

Not so. The $120 subscription fee includes the Norton Core Security Plus software for 20 devices. This is the same as the Norton Security Premium product, but for twice the number of devices.

I'm curious where you found that information on the core sub including Norton antivirus for 20 dedvices. I have Norton now and was wondering the same thing, but have been unable to find the information you were quoting

Re: Future of Norton Security Software

Do I need an antivirus solution if I have Norton Core’s subscription?

You do not need a separate antivirus solution if you have an active Norton Core subscription. Your subscription includes Norton Core Security Plus, which helps protect your home network and an unlimited number of your connected devices, including computers and mobile devices against malware, viruses, and hackers. It also comes with parental control software for your kid’s devices while at home or on-the-go.*

Does Norton Core come with a subscription?

Yes. By purchasing on Norton.com, Norton Core includes a one-year complimentary subscription to Norton Core Security Plus that will automatically renew and be billed at $9.99/mo. USD (plus applicable taxes).* The subscription helps protect your home network and an unlimited number of your connected devices, including computers and mobile devices against malware, viruses, and hackers. It also comes with parental control software for your kid’s devices while at home or on-the-go.3

Re: Future of Norton Security Software

I read that part, but the way it's worded, it makes it sound like it only protects the devices connected to the router. I'm more worried about my laptops and mobile devices while out of the house. They kind of gloss over the bonus of having Norton AV/360 services included in the core subscription. I was hoping that it would state you would still have an installed av as well

Yeah, I hear ya'.  "Legalize" is worded to satisfy the author.    You need a meeting of the minds.

Re: Future of Norton Security Software

To all following this: I just got off the phone with Norton support and per the young lady there: it does include an antivirus for all devices, and they state unlimited number of devices! I will take that with a grain of salt but we'll see. She did state they must be "smart" devices. So maybe I'll be getting the core after all

FWIW

See this post from Employee Gayathri   https://community.norton.com/en/comment/7320461#comment-7320461   showing the 20 device coverage.

Since that post in January, there has been some confusion about 20 devices or unlimited. I have been trying to get confirmation one way or another.

EDIT

avjohnnie's post here shows the confusion between 20 devices and unlimited.   https://community.norton.com/en/comment/7544211#comment-7544211
