Get Support and repeated "Repair Installation"

I am running Norton Security V22.1.0.9 with fully updated Win8.1. Norton Security was installed over a previous NIS installation. Norton Security seems to be behaving properly but occasionally when I run "Get Support" it says it is repairing one item with the installation which remains fixed for some time but then re-occurs. Are others experiencing this problem?

Re: Get Support and repeated "Repair Installation"

Is there some reason you are running Autofix?

This was reported some time ago for the earlier products (NIS and 360). There is no way to find what is fixed by Autofix.

I cannot remember if there was an explanation or a fix for this, other than trying a reinstal of the product.

As long as your Norton icon in your system tray has a green checkmark, your product is working properly.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hi Peter,

As I recall it had to do with one of the 3 originally viable, but later abandoned (however still IE registered) Norton browser plug-ins...

Cheers!

Hello

Here is the KB for autofix  This one is from 2013, but it probably hasn't changed.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit NSBU 22.17.0.183 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

That issue with NVP was reported resolved with Norton Security.   NVP was removed from IE with NS.   So, nothing for Auto Fix to detect as "Disabled".

Re: Get Support and repeated "Repair Installation"

Right bjm_, but my understanding of Peter's statement/question was for information related to what had previously been one of the causes for the (then) auto-fix "loop issue" under NIS and 360...

I did not intend my post (directed at Peter) as an informational reference to/for the OP's current situation under NS.

Kind regards,

John

Thanks for the added info. Memory not as good as it used to be.

Thanks for the replies. As I mentioned everything seems to be working fine with NS, green check mark always. Just wondering what the automated support is fixing?

Re: Get Support and repeated "Repair Installation"

Whenever I have run autofix, it always says fixed installation. It has never given any more detail that I have seen in my Norton Security.
