Getting "Backup Failed (A8989) error for several days"

Hi folks,


I'm getting the error A8989 for the past several days (and several backup attempts). This error isn't documented, but I've learned from other posts here that it's supposed to be a server-side error.

Any idea what I can do to fix this? Backups have been working fine for many months before this.

Hello yefchak,

The error you are receiving A8989 refers to an account being in maintenance.  This is usually temporary lasting for a short period of time.  However the problem could be something else but is falsely reporting the maintenance message. If you can send me a private message with the following I can get it looked into further:

  • The email address associated to your account.
  • When you first encountered the message.
  • Reference this forum post so I have a point of reference for your query.
