Mmourtada,

Can you run partinfo.exe from C:\Program Files\Norton Ghost\Utility. Partinfo.txt will be created in the same folder. Please post partinfo.txt as an attachment.

Mmourtada,

Can you tell us more about your computer? You have two HDs. Is the second one internal or external?

Your second HD has legacy cylinder aligned partitions and the first HD has 2048 sector aligned partitions. The second HD looks like it is the HD that came from Dell. The first HD looks like a scaled clone of the second HD. We need a lot more info.

Dell XP  with windows XP

The second HD is the original Dell, the first drive is cloned, both are internal, I had to upgrade to bigger HD last year.

I can do everything normal, only after my external drive broke, so I had no choice but to buy a new one, all my backup were on the broken disk, Ghost keep showing the backup in the log, but can't see Drive C: which is Drive 0 or Drive F: Which is Drive 1.

It can Only see my External Drive (the new one).

Thanks,

Re: Ghost can't see any of my drives, I can't backup

Can you try this as a test? Disconnect your second HD. Can Ghost now see your C: drive?

Which software did the clone? How did you resize the partitions?

Has Ghost on the new HD ever been able to see the C: drive?

Re: Ghost can't see any of my drives, I can't backup

I did disconnect the second HD and the External and  it can't see anything, not even when I checked show hidden.

Ghost has been working great for the last 1  year on the new cloned HD and the original drives.

I used Seagate to clone my drive last year.

Thanks

Thanks, that makes it a lot clearer in my brain. Can you see drive letters for the partitions in Disk Management?

Re: Ghost can't see any of my drives, I can't backup

Well, your situation is a mystery. We see "many" cases of drive letters missing in Ghost due to partition overlaps but that doesn't apply to you. Maybe your partition signatures are corrupted. Can you delete the {MountedDevices} key in the registry and restart your computer. Just delete the whole key. It is {HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices}. Don't worry, the key and new partition signatures will be regenerated when you reboot.

I will try this and hope this will fix it, I just bought another ghost license in the hope it will fix this issue, I installed a brand new ghost with different license, but I am having the same issue, can you recommend another software similar to ghost. Thank you for your help

Two copies of Ghost 15! I hope we can fix the drive letter problem. Let us know what happens with Ghost after you delete {MountedDevices} and reboot. There are othe things we can try if it isn't fixed.
