Ghost Image Backup History (Product Suggestion)
Currently one can have Ghost rebuild its history related to File and Folder backups after having deleted the catalog.dat file. This is sometimes recommended to clean up corruption in the Ghost history.
For Image backups however, there is not a facility for doing this. You can delete the .pqh files and other files in the History folder but all that does is wipe Ghost history clean with no facility for rebuilding its database of image backups.
Quite a few users have complained about not being able to do this and don't feel comfortable when one or more backups is missing from the history.
Granted, the backup image is still usable whether in history or not but we're talking about comfort level here.
In the end it would be nice to be able to have Ghost rebuild its history of image backups. Essentially sync it up to the actual images on the backup drive.
One easy case where this can be seen is to do a backup of your system C drive. Then do a restoral of the C drive. Ghost will have no history of that last backup any more since the history files were updated after the backup was completed.
You can see this thread for reference.
There are also other isolated cases where Ghost has backups missing from the history. One such example is someone has to uninstall/reinstall Ghost because of some problem. If they answer NO to the question about whether to keep backup history which is sometimes necessary for correcting a functional problem, Ghost will have NO history at all once reinstalled. Again, it would be useful to be able to rebuild the history.
