Has I D Safe completely lost the plot??

I am so disillusioned with Norton/Symantec right now that I really do not know what to do!

So what is the problem(sorry - the problems)

Norton ID Safe is not recognising my password - which I know I have entered correctly. Even ID Safe logs me into ID Safe.

Then in the midst of the ID Safe problem I check up on "my account" and log in to Identity Safe which  I find is holding a password I changed some years ago!!  Now I feel so unsafe it is not true!

PLUS I need to renew my subscriptions (Identity Safe / Internet Security /  Norton Utilities etc and would like a clear listing of what my new subscription will include. There is so much selling jargon as to make it difficult to make a truly informed choice!

However I have checked and checked and I have not used the wrong password!!! Impossible the Norton Gurus will say Impossible - it can't happen.

I hope they are right and it is me being inaccurate!!

Any thoughts anyone - or could it be my Spanish Keyboard interacting with English Windows10 April 18 update ??

I look forward to your guidance

regards

The only subscription you would have is for Internet Security, which is now Norton Security product line. Identity Safe does not have a subscription and if you already have Norton Utilities there is no ongoing subscription. Once you have the key that is all you need.

Your labels indicate the ID Safe Standalone version. That has been discontinued. If in fact you do have that installed and you want to keep using it, do not uninstall it. You will not be able to download it again.

Can you log into your vault from your Norton Account at    https://my.norton.com and click on the ID Safe Icon?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Has I D Safe completely lost the plot??

As a follow up, after my last post I received an email from Norton re my request to rest my password. I have never sent such a request. I have several screen shots of my account pages in Norton and Symantec.

I am happy to send these via email if you can give me a secure destination. I am still logging in to my ID Safe Account and my Norton Account ???

What worries me - a great deal is how can this happen on the pages and site of Norton & Symantec. Can someone look into this and re-assure us ALL of the safety of using Norton

As I said in my 1st post

I look forward to your guidance

Re: Has I D Safe completely lost the plot??

after my last post I received an email from Norton re my request to rest my password. I have never sent such a request.

In that email should be directions if it was not you requesting the password change.

What may have happened is that someone tried to hack your account, but as the confirmation email is sent to your email address, your account has been protected. Also, someone could have mistyped their email address while trying to access their account. Then tried their password and when it did not work, requested the password change.

For your ID Safe login issue.

How are you accessing the vault? Through a browser extension, or from your Norton Security program?

Try logging out of your Norton Account from the main Norton Security screen. At the top right, click on your email address and Sign Out.  If you are using the ID Safe browser extensions, click on the ID Safe icon, then sign out of your Norton Account at the bottom of that window.  Restart your computer, then try signing into your vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Has I D Safe completely lost the plot??

Further to weeshus comment, I have been experiencing erratic behaviour in Norton ID Safe. Regularly I have to restart Windows to access the"open vault" dialog box since it will not open after starting Norton 360. All the icons that existed for each login have been replaced by a blank small box. It has been replacing valid logins with inoperative extra logins. This was particularly worrying when I could not access internet banking since I thought someone had accessed the login details and changed them. I also could not log in manually. This made me rush to the bank where my existing details did work, fortunately.

I was also really annoyed with Norton when they automatically renewed my subscription over three weeks before it was due, throwing out my budget. (I had selected this option in my account.) Credit accounts can be accessed far closer to the end subscription date than three weeks beforehand. Tech support credited my account quickly. However close to renewal date I found I could purchase the renewal online for AUD89  and not the AUD139 that was charged beforehand. I have since cancelled automatic renewal. This year I am considering whether I will renew.

I dislike the fact that Norton ID Safe is only available in Firefox as a "Cloud" safe whereas I like to keep it local.

regards

Martin
