I seem to have a virus called altjabber. Once i enter fullscreen games it minimizes, and after that, anything i click on minimizes for 20 more seconds. I cant do anything because of this!
What version of Norton are you using, there should be a number under help and support that starts with either 3 or 4. What operating system and service pack level are you running.
Has Norton identified a problem or quarantined any files?
If you look in task manager, are there any unfamiliar processes (show processes from all users). It may look like random letters and numbers.
No processes, norton 4. No registries.
Do you chat online during your game in the game? Have you tried uninstalling your game and then installing it again? Are you playing the games thru IRC? Have you tried deleting and then reinstalling your chat programs?
No chat programs. As for reinstalling and uninstalling, i did that for lots of other games. It still doesnt work. All my games dont work unless i go into windowed mode, and some of my shooter games wont let me do that.
Have you tried a full scan with the free version of Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware?
Download the free version, install and update then run a FULL scan. After the scan completes you should post the logs back to this thread. You can find Malwarebytes herehttp://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/It is a safer location to get the program from than malwarebytes themselves because some malware creators have large lists of sites that they block. Please be careful to down load the correct program ----the FREE version of MALWAREBYTES(Thanks to Delph for providing the alternative site)
Here is a free on demand antimalware scanner. It is safe to use on demand with your Norton product.http://www.superantispyware.com/Here is another site you can use to get the program.http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/The download button is on the right hand side. Please be careful not to download Spyware Doctor which is on the left side. Also, please don't forget to update the program each time before use of it. In fact you can update it every day just in case some malware may prevent you from updating it.
Please try these and post the logs after you save them if they show any malware. Thanks.
Ill try superantispyware.
I did scans with malwarebytes and spybot serach and destroy.
They came up with cookies...
My next suggestion is to stop over at one of the free malware removal sites and register with one of them. Please put the name of the virus in the subject and describe what is happening. They know the proper tools and scans for you to run and they deal with you on a 1 to 1 basis.
Please go to one of these free Forums for help in removing your bad malware or rootkits.http://www.bleepingcomputer.comhttp://www.geekstogo.com/forum/http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/http://forums.whatthetech.com/(Thanks to Delph for providing the list of sites)
Please pick one and sign up with them and let us know how you make out. Bleeping is going to be busy and the others are good also. Thanks.
Signing up now...
Please let us know which site you signed up with and keep us informed as to how you are doing. Thanks
