A host of Norton Family questions

I just installed Norton Family on PC and Android and have a bunch of questions. I tried to search for the answers and can't seem to find them. I am using an LG Volt on Android 4.4.2  with Norton Android 3.4.1.21.

- PC: Am I able to block the usage of apps?

- Android: Am I able to block access to the system settings? I have seen several ask about blocking access to changing the time to defeat the control app, but this is only one way I would want to stop access to system settings. I prefer my child have no access directly to the system settings.

- When I go to look at the apps I can block it seems to only be the ones that were installed and not included with the system. How can I block any app on the device and not just post installed ones? I.e. I don't want them using Chrome, Gmail, Google Play, Google Plus, or Contacts at all. None of these show as options to be blocked.

- Can I set it so any new apps installed are blocked by default?

Thanks

Re: A host of Norton Family questions

Hi Farlicimo,

Thanks for the inquiries.

Q: PC: Am I able to block the usage of apps?

A: You can block apps for Android devices, not for PC currently.

Q: Android: Am I able to block access to the system settings? I have seen several ask about blocking access to changing the time to defeat the control app, but this is only one way I would want to stop access to system settings. I prefer my child have no access directly to the system settings.

A: I'll get back to you on this.

Q:  When I go to look at the apps I can block it seems to only be the ones that were installed and not included with the system. How can I block any app on the device and not just post installed ones? I.e. I don't want them using Chrome, Gmail, Google Play, Google Plus, or Contacts at all. None of these show as options to be blocked.

A: I'll get back to you on this.

Q: Can I set it so any new apps installed are blocked by default?

A: Currently, you can block apps by checking them to be blocked from the Apps list. I'll forward your request to the team for their consideration.

Thanks

Katie

Re: A host of Norton Family questions

Hi Farlicimo,

Here are the response to the two questions that didn't get answered earlier.

Q: Android: Am I able to block access to the system settings? I have seen several ask about blocking access to changing the time to defeat the control app, but this is only one way I would want to stop access to system settings. I prefer my child have no access directly to the system settings.

A: NF does not provide option to block system systems. But when the time block happens all apps will be blocked. We send tamper notification when child changes time/timezone to parent.

A: Yes, we are currently working on the feature which shows parent the system apps in such a way that parent can understand the risk when blocking them.

Thanks

Katie
