How can I be sure that I reinstalled to Norton Security with Backup and not just Norton Security

I updated my NSBU yesterday using the NRnR.exe file. My Program and Features now lists it as Norton Security, while before the reinstall it was listed as Norton Security with Backup. The only place I see Norton Security with Backup is in the Program Folder. The Norton icon on the task bar is labeled Norton Security rather than Norton Security with Backup as it was before. When I open the Norton Security icon, it also shows Norton Security next to the Norton Logo, However the Backup feature is shown, but off.

It looks like the NSBU is in fact installed, but the file names have changed. This is probably a lame/dumb post, but I want to be sure.

Re: How can I be sure that I reinstalled to Norton Security with Backup and not just Norton Security

Hi nychucky,

Look at the dashboard (main page of your Norton) - do you have 5 Squares?

  • Security
  • Identity
  • Backup
  • Performance
  • More Norton

If so you are in fact running NSBU.  If you only have 4 squares (no Backup), then you are running NS.

You can also go to More Norton > Manage my Protection > under My Norton > My Subscriptions - it will show NSBU, however if you select My Devices and click on a device it will show NS Premium (which is the latest name for NSBU).

I typical Norton marketing practice - it is confusing - remember when we had NIS/N360 2013? .....and then they went to NIS/N360 version 20/21/22 etc?

Re: How can I be sure that I reinstalled to Norton Security with Backup and not just Norton Security

yank,

I do have the 5 icons on the dashboard, with the Backup "off". I checked my licenses and the MacBook Air stated Norton Security, while the Toshiba and Dell stated Norton Security Premium. My HP Slate 7 stated Norton Mobile Security. The MacBook Air hasn't been online since my reinstall, so it may update after she goes online. If not I may have her "Remove and Reinstall" Norton. (It is possible that the NSBU will not run on the MacBook Air.)

Thanks,

cv
