How can I complete setup if I don't have cellular data here?

Going through the setup and now I come to a point where I need a cellular data connection to continue. Is there a way around this? Can I go to where I can get a cellular signal then come back to the Core setup location?

Gilbertg You need to be as near the Core as possible during setup. I know the app requires both but initially uses Bluetooth. I have not ran into the situation you are in. Having not seen where another customer has had the same issue and found a solution where being off site will allow setup to complete has validated.

I asked about this particular situation. One possible suggestion was that the cell data requirement was just to be able to download the Core app onto your device. If that is the case, you can just go to a location with wifi and download the app from the device's app store. Then you may be able to complete the setup using Bluetooth.

No one got back to me on this, so maybe you can try and let us know.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

During setup, I encountered this as well.  I think the data connection is required for more than just downloading the app, as you get this notification in the app itself during the set up process.  This is another instance where the documentation is maddeningly vague.  I am not sure that there is a workaround.

Norton support told me I can take the Core to a friend's house where I have cellular data signal, use their internet connection to complete the setup. Then bring it back home and connect to my internet once the initial setup is done. They also said it might go better because I have Hughesnet and Norton is experiencing problems with initial setup on those systems. (not the problem I'm running into tho). I did download the Norton app using my internet modem, that went fine. But now I'm to the 'setup' step and that's where cellular data connection is required. There must be some setup info I need to access via that data connection which is then transferred to the core. That's my guess. Will find out when I get a chance to try this recommended process. The Bluetooth connection seems to be fine.

If it makes you feel any better, I did not have a data plan for the iPhone I was using and had to run to the Verizon Wireless store to transfer my wireless service from my old phone to the iPhone, then return home to finish the setup.  I feel your pain.

Gilbertg You can also tether your phone to a laptop connected to your ISP device via Ethernet and gain internet data in that manner.

Re: How can I complete setup if I don't have cellular data here?

Technically you need to disconnect you existing Wireless to setup Core reason you need to have Cellular data. The idea here is to have Internet access on the Phone on the initial setup. If you dont have active Mobile/Cellular data, you can used your current WiFi to setup Core. If your current setup is Modem/Router combo, keep Wireless active connect your phone and follow setup. If have a Modem and existing Router, keep those equipment and simply connect the Core to your existing Router. After Core successfully activated, then you may disconnect your current existing Router and hookup Core to the Modem then restart all equipment. For Combo, disable the wireless capability or set it to bridge. . . Best Regards
