I have run norton full scan and power eraser.
Is there any way to get norton to warn me when the internet is being accessed-- and by whom?
If your computer is connected to the Internet it is in an ongoing conversation with various portions of the net. Norton monitors what is coming into your system and blocks almost all malware.
I have to say 'almost' because it is impossible for any one product to provide 100% protection 100% of the time. Malware is being released onto the Internet at the rate of about a million pieces daily.
I'm not sure what value you would receive by having your computer alert you when it accesses the Internet. I can only imagine how distracting it would be if you were trying to interact with a remote site. Every one of your keystrokes would generate an alert.
For me, it is more important to know that my software and security programs are current and I know exactly where I'm connected. As was told to me many years ago - the most important security device on your computer is a fully engaged chair - keyboard interface.
