How Can I Tell If Restore Is Working?

My computer died and I have a new one. I started Restore today according to instructions The browser tab went completely blank. So how do I know if the restore process is actually going on or if it didn't work at all?

Hello HD. Exactly what are you restoring from? Another program installing a system image? Ghost?

Cheers

Re: How Can I Tell If Restore Is Working?

I was trying to download Norton Backup files backed up from a computer that died to a new computer. It appears to work only if I download a restore of everything that was on the computer. It doesn't work if I try to download one folder full of files, such as "pictures" or "DNA". Why not???

Re: How Can I Tell If Restore Is Working?

If you have installed Norton on the new computer, you should be able to look for your files in Windows Explorer. Using a Windows admin account, open Explorer and click on This PC in the left pane. Then double click on Norton Backup Drive in the right pane. Then click on the Backup Set with your files. Then you can navigate to the folder or files you want to restore. Right click and choose to restore/download.

Note that the listings can take some time to populate, so be patient.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
