How do I back up entire hard drive to Norton backup services

I have a free trial of Norton Online Backup. I would like to backup my entire hard drive. How do I do that? I see that I can select specific types of files (i.e. financial, documents, videos, etc.) but I'd like to backup everything. Thanks.

Re: How do I back up entire hard drive to Norton backup services

Hi there,

we all have different needs, i am wondering why you would like to backup the entire hard drive

i ask this because my own needs have a cost barrier in my download charge for my internet connection given i am a pensioner. I also would suggest you might risk the waste a lot of time and money if you need to use the windows part of your backup sometime in the future - you might find a windows crash on your machine might not permit you to access NOBU while you work through the recovery processes. Many other issues might also be present.

if i wanted to backup windows, I would use my backup hard drive. I am using a modern laptop so it has windows in a recovery partitian, which suggests I do not need a specific windows backup. I know there are several punters in the other section of the forum having fun with the hard drive image program - i think that is ghost, you might like to inspect that advice as that looks like what you might actually be seeking.

saying this, I am simply curious.

Lyle.

Re: How do I back up entire hard drive to Norton backup services

Hello Andrew

As Lyle mentioned backing up your entire hard drive is not necessarily practical or cost efficient using online storage. The best way to gain the value for online storage is to back up personal data such as documents, pictures, financial data, etc. The items you've created rather than what the operating system has installed. That's precisely why Norton Online Backup has categories you can select from.

If your goal is to grab an entire snapshot of your system so you can do an easy restore of everything then Norton Ghost is the better candidate. It will let you create a full image of the computer at the time you create it.

Please provide a little more info to your intent. We can then guide you in the right direction from there.

Invest in Norton Ghost 15 and backup you computer to an external drive.
