How do I backup Norton360 Settings?

How the heck do I backup Norton360 settings? Are settings automatically part of the Backup function?

Unfortunately, there is no way to backup Norton's Settings. If you are reinstalling on the same physical computer, many settings will be retained. The main settings that people have asked about are the Backup sets, and Firewall rules. Those get lost with a reinstall.

And no, the Norton backup does not have any way to backup the Norton settings.

What an oversight. As far as settings being retained... nope to that.

I made this inquiry due to the 'Disable Auto Protect' menu item continues to be grayed out and according to Norton help, the only way to fix this issue, if a PC reboot did not restore it, is to remove and reinstall the software. After reinstall, I'm not sure any settings were retained.

I'm frustrated with this, and Norton puts more effort towards bloatware and 'utilities' that are not necessary. I'm just not understanding this. Is it too much to ask for, and I'll pay for, antivirus and the ability to backup settings? I don't even need your firewall or any other component!

If you are having items that remain greyed out a restart is the suggested first step. Be sure you are using the Restart command. Not Shutdown and startup again if you have Windows Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1, 10 or 11, there can be an issue with the Windows Fast Startup feature.. See more information here.

As for a reinstall, what settings are you worried about losing? As I noted above, most settings are retained.

I'm using the restart command, no fast startup.

What settings? How about Device Trust, specific Program control, Traffic Rules, Admin Settings, down to a little thing of having to re-disable Special Offer Notification.

I already mentioned... these Settings are NOT retained, so your version of 'most' is really different.

When you reinstalled your Norton product, did you use the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool? If so, did you use the Advanced Options > Remove Only option? If so, then most settings are going to be lost.

My experience with using that tool without the Remove Only option did maintain the settings you mention, except for traffic/firewall rules as I already noted.

Anyway, I am just a user like you and I cannot make any changes. I too would like to see a way to maintain all settings. It is a pain to have to recreate a backup set and then clear the already stored online backups to make room again. I can also sympathise with those who make some more advanced firewall and program control settings.
