How do I get my vault to use the account I use with Norton?

I decided to set up ID Safe on my computer.  Directions are not the clearest, so it was feeling my way thru.  It started with creating a vault, and asked me to sign into my Norton account, or I could create an account.  I chose to create an account, and I guess that is where things went wrong.  I spent four days creating new passwords for all the sites I use.  When I finished this, I decided it was time to find out how I could go about implementing this work on all my devices, as this was the major reason I decided to use this tool.  I went to indentitysafe.norton.com and it asked for my vault password.  When I entered this, I got a message: "No vault for this account".  I have a working system on my computer, and Norton says they no longer use local vaults,  they are all on the cloud.  So, somehow, my computer is logging into a cloud account that is not connected to the Norton account.  Or, there is some issue with logging in that I am unaware of.

Is there some way I can move my vault to my Norton account?  My guess is that if I delete my vault [I have "exported" my data for this contingency] the same process will repeat itself.  I need to have a single workable account that contains my vault.

Hello davcbr2

I think what you are asking is if you can get back your local vault. If you have had a local vault in the past, then yes, you can get back your vault. Please follow the instructions given by the user elsewhere.

Re: How do I get my vault to use the account I use with Norton?

When you created the new vault, did you use a different email address from your main Norton Account? If so, you have created a second Norton Account. This is the email and password you would use on the ID Safe web site to log in.

As I understand your question, you just want to move your logins to your original Norton Account. To do this, you have already taken the first step, by backing up (exporting) your current vault.

Go back to your original process, but this time just sign into your Norton Account instead of creating a new one. Once the vault is set up, you can import the logins you exported earlier.

Once you have tested that this works, you can clear the second vault you had created. To do this, you try logging into that vault using 3 different incorrect passwords. Then you should be asked if you want to reset the vault. This will delete your second vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Thanx for the replies.  "Go back to your original process, but this time just sign into your Norton Account instead of creating a new one."  I'm not sure I understand how to do this.  It would seem that I would need to ...  uninstall the current ID safe program on my computer?  It's part of my Norton Suite, and I have looked around for something that would be like this but couldn't find anything.  I don't really understand how I can go back to the beginning again.

Again, thanx

Sorry for seeming to abandon you, but I had to do a little research to try to give the right answer.

You mention Norton Suite. Are you using a version from your internet provider? If so, you would be using a local vault, and will not be able to use the same vault from different computers.

If you have a retail Norton product, click to open ID Safe, and click on the link for the Cloud Vault. Then enter the email address and password for your Norton Account. Then see if there is a prompt to create a vault. If so, follow the directions to create the vault. Then you can import your saved logins to that new vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: How do I get my vault to use the account I use with Norton?

Thanx

Everything makes sense now.  I get Norton from comcast, and if that means my vault is local, then that is why my account "has no vault".

I really do appreciate you people.
