Re: how do i know if i have a local vault or an online vault.

A local vault stores the information on your computer. The online vault is stored on Norton's servers. All current Norton products are geared to the online vault. You can no longer access your local vault using the current ID Safe browser extensions. You can still use a local vault if you use IE and the Norton Toolbar. You can no longer create a local vault even if you want to.

How do you tell if you have a local vault? Open your Norton Security product. If you see your email address at the top right of the window, click on it and Sign Out. Then click on the Identity tab, then click on Identity Safe and sign into your vault. If you have to first enter your Norton Account email and password, you are using an online vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
