How do I know my files have been successfully backed up?

I used to get a tick on the files but now there is only a tick on photos not my office documents? I do not want to have to go through the back up set to check?  Thank you

Does this help?

  • Backup Status Overlay: Inserts an icon on files.

Protected - Green icon next to the file indicates that the file has been backed up

Unprotected - Blue icon next to the file indicates that the file has been modified after it has been backed up

Excluded - Gray icon next to the file indicates that the files has been excluded from its backup set

Caveat: I don't use Backup Status Overlay

I have a green tick on photos but nothing on my office documents.  However when I check my backup set the office document files are in the backup set just backed up?

Sorry, I don't use Backup Status Overlay.
I run Norton Backup manually.
for example: Complete - View Details & Security History.

Please confirm Windows Fast Startup is off. W10 [here] W11 [here]

Please run Norton LiveUpdate + Restart (not Shut down) machine.

Please toggle Backup Status Overlay Off - Restart machine - toggle Backup Status Overlay On ... test.

I still see the green check marks on my documents and financial files that I back up. Try turning the Backup overlays setting off, restart your computer, and then turn the setting back on again. Sometimes settings just get muddled.

Thank you for your response but I have tried switching off the overlay and reinstating it but it is still not working. I will look into it further and experiment.

Thank you for your response, I do not want to interfere with the fast start up settings as |I am not confident enough but I have tried the rest to no avail. I will experiment further to see if it is something on my PC.

Have you checked online to see if the files are backed up?

Have you reinstalled your Norton recently? If so, you have to be sure you set up the backup set again to backup those files.

thank you for your response.  I have checked online and my files are backed up but I used to have an icon showing on the backed up files which I found handy.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled norton, unchecked the overlay status and toggled it back on after a restart but to no avail.  I think I will just have to live with it.

Windows Admin user account?
You've created new Backup Sets since Norton reinstall?

I already suggested toggling the overlays in a post above. I have no other suggestions at this time.
