How do I minimize or remove old backup data without deleting the entire set. My 2TB backup drive is full.

My 2TB backup drive is full. I have about 750GB of data that is backed up. In the old days I could pick what type of backup to do. I could append for a week or month and do a full backup at the end of the month to create sets. I would delete old sets and recover the space. Now I have one huge backup and no way to delete data from it. Do I need to start over or just keep buying more space, a considerable waste of money? My current drive is external. If I get another drive will it span the volumes or will the program see it as another backup device and create another set? This is not user friendly. My 250GB laptop takes 2 days to backup, just silly.

Requested move to Backup Board.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.18.0.213 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

If you are looking to delete files from the backup, you can do that by opening Windows Explorer and clicking on This PC. On the right pane, you will see the Norton Backup drives for each backup set you have.  From there you can right click on the files or folders you want to remove and choose delete.

Note, you will have to be using a Windows Admin account to see those drives listed.

As for the laptop taking 2 days to backup. Is that being backed up to the external drive? Your external drive being full may have something to do with this. See if you still see the slow backups after you can remove some files from your backups.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

When looking in Explorer the files have cryptic names and the dates are all over the place. I currently have over 15 folders with thousands of files. How do you delete files if you don't know what they contain? As for the laptop I am backing up to a 2TB memory stick. It should not be that slow. Does 360 do a full backup every time? I don't know what is happening here and not getting many answers.

When looking in Explorer are you looking at the drive where the files are stored? That is not what I suggested.

You need to look at the right pane of Explorer after clicking on This PC. Then clicking on Norton Backup Drive should bring up a list of your backups and files.

The only thing that shows up in the Norton Backup Drive folder is the User folder. Programs or data files outside of that folder don't show. I let my laptop run backup for 8 days, non stop. Somewhere on the last day the backup failed and stopped. After restarting the backup program started from scratch and began to recopy all the data. 8 days for a drive with 250GB of data. I could copy the drive in a couple of hours. Not sure what's going on. I don't usually leave the laptop on for more than a couple of hours. It will never complete a backup.
