How do I move my Identity Safe and Vault to a new computer?

I have Norton 360 with Identity Safe already set up:  I have around 300 sites with logins and passwords saved.  I am migrating everything to a new laptop, and need to move the Identity Safe / Norton 360 to a new laptop and need to know how to do that.  Norton used to have a chat feature, but the support seems to have been eliminated on the site, now just paid support ... unless I don't know where to look.  A month or so ago, they told me there was a way to save the login / passwords so they could be imported into the new computer, but I was in the planning stages at that time.  Help please.

Welcome,

Customer support can still be found here;

http://www.norton.com/chat

Now, to move your identity safe data:

Export your vault to a .CSV file on the old computer - this is a clear text file that you can read

Copy that file to a thumb drive after verifying the data

set up your new computer and install 360

http://www.norton.com/n360s_20

activate 360 and run live update, rebooting as directed, until the program tells you that all of the updates have been downloaded and installed

create a new identity safe file using  the same username and password as you had active on the old computer

login to your new vault - you may need to log in to your MyNortonAccount beforeyou can get into your vault

If you were using the online vault you should be able to see all of your usernames and passwords

If not then you can plug in the thumb drive and import the .CSV file

You should now have an operational vault on your new computer

Keep us posted

Re: How do I move my Identity Safe and Vault to a new computer?

You need to click on Vault Open on the Norton toolbar of your browser. Then click on Settings and Export. This will bring up the Identity Safe data backup screen. Save your data in both DAT and CSV formats. Save the files to a thumb drive or CD for moving to your new computer.

You should do this backup anyway, but if you are using an online vault now, all you have to do is install your 360 on the new computer and you should be able to log into your current online vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
