How Do You Subscribe to A Search?

I received an email notification today alerting me that a topic posted today by SoulAsylum in the Tech Outpost board titled Alternative VPN information for the average user matched a search I subscribed to, but I have no recollection of subscribing to a search and can't even figure out how I might have accidentally done this.

I checked my user profile and it shows I'm subscribed to a search for the Tech Outpost so unsubscribing isn't a problem - I'm just not sure how I subscribed to this search in the first place.  Newer topics in that Tech Outpost board haven't triggered a similar email notification so that search subscription was likely created in my account some time after 03-Jul-2021.

I checked the Subscriptions in my user profile and I'm not subscribed to the Tech Outpost or any other forum.

The recent changes to the forum software seem to have changed some features and removed others. The subscribe to searches seems to have been removed, along with being able to subscribe to blogs.

You may have accidentally subscribed on the older forum software.

I don't think this subscription for a search match was created with the old forum software.  The very first notification I received (see image <above>) was sent on 06-Jul-2021 when SoulAsylum created the topic Alternative VPN information for the average user in the Tech Outpost.

The second notification was sent two days later on 08-Jul-2021 when ALF60 created the topic Microsoft's incomplete PrintNightmare patch fails to fix vulnerability in the Tech Outpost.

As far as I can tell I was sent a notification every time a new topic was created in the Tech Outpost, so this subscription for a search match must have been created recently if notifications just started arriving on 06-Jul-2021 (Note that I unsubscribed to this search in my user profile on 09-Jul-2021 so I don't expect to receive any more notifications about a search match in the future).

I'm beginning to wonder now if one of the Forum Mods (i.e., someone with elevated privileges) was running a test with my user profile after I posted 05-Jul-2021 in Ardmore's Not receiving emails from Product & Service Announcements Blogs and accidentally subscribed me to a follow a search.
