How to move Norton Security (NSWB) local password vault to the cloud

I would like to move my NSWB Password Manager local vault to the cloud. All the articles I found discussed creating a vault for the first time. I already have a local vault and want to move it (and all the passwords in the vault) to the cloud. Can it be done and is there a web based article link that someone can provide me that details a step by step guide on how to accomplish this.

As you log into your local vault, look for a prompt to move to the cloud. Click on that and it will walk you through moving the vault.

Just remember that if you do this, your local vault will be wiped out and no longer available.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

This is what I see (IMCE) before I enter my password for the Local Vault.

Sorry I guess I can't insert a screen shot.

Just below where I enter my Vault password in Orange are two text entries.

1) Show password hint

2) Open Cloud vault

Re: How to move Norton Security (NSWB) local password vault to the cloud

This is the part I missed the first time I tried to insert a file: "When you have the file you want to display in the list then select that file (when selected the image will show in the bottom pane of the window) and click on “Insert File” (or again you can just double click on it in the list). It should then be inserted in your post where the cursor was last resting"

As you can now see the bottom entry "Open Cloud vault" is what I see when I start to enter my local vault password.

Your image would indicate that you already have a cloud vault, as well as a local vault. This is possible if you have been using the local vault around the time the cloud vault was introduced. I still have both, along with some other users here.

What happens when you click on Open Cloud vault? I just opened my cloud vault by clicking on Open Cloud vault and was presented with the following options.

Be aware that if you choose merge, it may remove your local vault access. So I would suggest Keep Both so you have the option of both. Unless you are OK with moving only to the cloud vault.

I would suggest backing up your local vault before trying anything different. See this Norton article.  Scroll down to the section Export your Norton Password Manager data from Norton.

FWIW, I also have both a Local and a Cloud vault.

I can obtain the above image posted by @peterweb by signing into the Local Vault (as shown in JlmS's image above).

And if you sign into your Norton Account from that page?

Did you ever set up a cloud vault in the past?

Did you ever set up a cloud vault in the past?  No

And if you sign into your Norton Account from that page? Have not tried as I don't want to accidentally move to the cloud or make a mistake moving to the cloud and end up with no cloud vault and no local vault. Will make the move when I'm certain I have all my ducks lined up with a clear, precise set of instructions on moving NSWB from Local to Cloud.

Will start by exporting my local vault to both types of file formats before I make the move.

What happens when you enter your password for your Local Vault on your initial image?

Re: How to move Norton Security (NSWB) local password vault to the cloud

I'm fairly sure I too will see the prompts to move to cloud when logging into my local vault. It seems to be not every time I log in, so it may just depend on which vault I am trying to open when it is time to display the prompts.

Re: How to move Norton Security (NSWB) local password vault to the cloud

I get no prompt(s) to move to the cloud when I am logging into my local vault. I just enter my password (when the Vault Closed window is displayed and tap the 'Enter key'  and the local vault opens.  I also tried to another PC with NSWB installed but never used the Vault. I initially.see a "Get started" window and a "Sign in" button in the lower right corner of the Sign in window. If I then click on the Sign in button I will be prompted in a few seconds (after connector to the Norton server) to:

Same as on my PC with a Local vault.

I also export the contents of my local vault to a .CSV file and imported into MS Excel on to find that not everything is exported "Tags" for instance which I use to store my PIN associated with an online account.

Re: How to move Norton Security (NSWB) local password vault to the cloud

To get all the information in your vault backed up, you need to export to the .dat format. It is not readable like the .csv, but is importable if you need to restore vault contents to your vault.

Re: How to move Norton Security (NSWB) local password vault to the cloud

The .dat file brings up an interesting possibility. Since my main computer is a "Dual Boot" (Windows 7 and Windows 10) and both version of Windows has NSWB installed but only Windows 7 has an active Password vault. Would exporting the Windows 7 vault in .dat format and then importing in Windows 10 as a local vault. verify that both are local and then only move the Windows 7 vault to the cloud keep the Windows 10 vault local?

Re: How to move Norton Security (NSWB) local password vault to the cloud

You would be able to import the .dat file to any currently active vault. Local or cloud. But unless you already have a local vault on your Win 10 machine, there is no way you can create a local vault with any current Norton products.
