How to save the Smart Firewall - Program Control settings so I don't have to re-enter all of them after uninstalling then re-installing Norton 360 service ?

I am installing Norton 360 onto a new Windows PC and want to transfer the Smart Firewall Program Settings and Traffic rules from my old system to the new one. Is it possible to archive the rules and settings so I can copy them into the new installation or do I have to re-enter them one-by-one into the new install (arrgh) Thank you for your kind assistance.

Unfortunately, there is no way to save settings for migration to a different computer. This has been suggested a number of times, but no action yet.

The only way you could accomplish this is if you took a disc image of the old computer and then cloned the system drive to the new computer.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

If one knew where the Firewall settings data is stored, would it not be possible to copy that data and then rewrite it into the re-installed Norton program ?

It might be possible. But this question has been asked many times here and no one has posted back that they found any way to to accomplish the task.

And even if the data was copied, it still may not be recognised by your current Norton installation because it did not save that data.

I appreciate your comments, though I must admit I am disappointed that Norton does not somehow facilitate this. It means that I will have to enter the 134 Firewall Program Control entries and 36 Traffic Rules every time I install or re-install Norton on my computer alone. After being a loyal user and advocate of Norton products for more than 20-years, I think it is time to move my computer systems and my companies and customers to an alternative protection software.

That really sounds like you should be using an enterprise product rather than a consumer-grade product anyway.  Most individual users will never need to add 124 Program Control entries or 36 Traffic Rules to the default rules that Norton normally handles automatically without any user input.  That is not to say that a settings backup would not be a useful feature, but if you seriously need to make that many modifications to the firewall settings over a large number of installations, you probably need a firewall that offers more configuration options than Norton anyway.
