How to transfer norton installation to another laptop

Hi,

I had purchased a new laptop and now i am facing hardware failures on it,  for which laptop comany is replacing

and giving me a new laptop.

How do i move my norton installation to new laptop.?

Also i may not have both laptops with me at the same time, so i need to understand how can i

1.  Remove the installation, with the intent to install it on another laptop

2.  Before returning the old laptop, how do i ensure that is does not contain my personal login information

3.  How to reinstall/Transfer  it on new laptop.

Re: How to transfer norton installation to another laptop

Hi jigneshdesai:

Instructions for installing your Norton product on a second device are posted here, and can be performed even after you've returned your old computer.

I want to download my Norton product on my device

If you are warned that you have used up all your available seats during the installation on your new computer (e.g., you purchased a 3-PC licence and have already installed Norton on 3 different machines) you can follow the instructions here for freeing up the installation seat for your old device:

Message: "You have exceeded the number of allowable installations..." when I activate my Norton product

Regarding your question about your personal login information, do you use the Norton Identity Safe to store your personal login passwords?  If so, please let us know which Norton product you use (NAV, NIS or N360) as well as the version number (go to Support | About - the latest version is v. 21.5.0.19).  If you use use Identity Safe with NIS or N360 then your login information is likely stored in a secure online vault on the Norton servers (i.e., rather than in a local vault on your computer hard drive) which can be easily accessed on your new computer since it does not physically reside on your old laptop.

Re: How to transfer norton installation to another laptop

Hi

I use Norton Internet Security . Version: 21.5.0.19

In my yet another old laptop which had Norton 360,  I was a bit conscious about online and had changed settings to store login information on local harddisk.

So i am not sure if that settings remains true for this current laptop, since vault login remains same.

Hi jigneshdesai:

I don't use Identity Safe, but yank has posted information here in the thread How to Tell if Vault is Local or Online that might be helpful.  The support article Syncing local vault to cloud vault also notes that the Go Cloud window mentioned in those instructions is only available if you have created a local vault.  Hopefully one of the othe users in the forum with more experience with Identity Safe will jump in to clarify.

Norton hasn't offered the option to create a local vault to new users since v. 19.x (2012), although existing customers with local vaults created in v. 19.x and earlier do have the ability to retain that local vault if they perform an over-the-top upgrade to NIS v. 20.x or v. 21.x.  If you installed NIS v. 21.5.0.19 on a brand new laptop I suspect Identity Safe asked you to create an online cloud vault.

If you want to uninstall NIS from the Control Panel before turning in your current laptop, you will see be presented with the following pop-up.  Choosing Please remove all user data will give you a more thorough removal of your Norton product. Note the comment at the bottom of this image stating that your online Identity Safe logins will not be deleted by this Control Panel uninstall.
