How to turn off "Malicious Download Detected Download Cancelled"

Windows 7, trying to download a .apk file. Norton pops up a window saying "Malicious Download Detected  Download Cancelled". They've tried  turning off Intrusion Prevention and Browser Protection. They still get the same popup. Any ideas?

Re: How to turn off "Malicious Download Detected Download Cancelled"

Hello

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

You would probably have to turn off Download Intelligence.to be able to download the file. Before doing that, I would strongly recommend that you send the file to Virus Total and see what they have to say about the file.     www.virustotal.com  If they say that the file is clean, then send it to Norton for further analysis.

Thanks for the reply. I also turned off Download Intelligence  - same problem.

Curious: why would Norton, running on windows, block an Android .apk file?

FWIW ~ as I recall "Malicious Download Detected  Download Cancelled" message comes thru Safe Web browser extension.   YMMV

That was it - brilliant!  I tried a different browser - Vivaldi (without that Safe Web extension) - and the download worked.

Thanks!!
