How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

How to update Norton Internet Security license "5 device 1 user" license, using pre purchased retail key through Norton account manage portal?

Available is only "Buy new" at 2.5 higher price then retail price.

So far I have entered retail key from NIS renew option but this requires physically accessing all 5 devices and entering a new subscription key.

Sometimes I must therefore create each year a new Email address and Norton account to use retail key.

Until devices are in different locations single license update point with pre paid key would be the best solution.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I assume you mean upgrade (rather than update) from Norton Internet Security (NIS) "3 device"  license to Norton Security (NS) "5 device 1 user" license?

You can do this using your existing Norton account. and no change to your email address.

However before installing NS you must first uninstall NIS.

I was advised the other day on this forum that when you start installing NS it will then prompt you to unistall NIS.

Re: How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

Sorry if I couldn't describe problem precisely.

Questions is of NIS (1 user 5 devices) yearly subscription renewal.

There are now 2 options:

1. retail key and renew from each of 5 devices.

2. Norton manage portal and automatic renewal at 2-3 price of retail key price.

The question is how to avoid automatic renewal and enter retail key through Norton manage portal to all 5 devices.

I believe NIS is not connected to Norton Security, which I haven't used AFAIK.

Thanks.

Thanks - problem is not to turn off automatic payment but not found option to enter retail renewal key like renewal from each device of 5.

Frequently asked questions about Norton renewal and new product purchases.
1) Note: New subscription clock begins when your purchase is completed for online payments, (or otherwise, when your payment is received).  See FAQ and *Important pricing terms, offer details and disclosures, bottom of page: http://us.norton.com/
2) As soon as 'renewal' is purchased, the additional subscription time is added to the existing time. The customer doesn't need to enter a key or anything, the current key just gets updated.

3) A 'new' subscription purchase - where you buy a new key to enter into the product - will NOT add the subscription time to the existing/remaining time.
4)
If you're purchasing on Norton.com, your subscription clock starts at purchase. Otherwise, the subscription clock starts at activation.

Re: How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

Thanks -

in few words is your message, that OP expected NIS manual renewal functionality with retail key through Norton Manage portal doesn't exist?

And subscription renewal with retail update/upgrade package is possible only entering new subscription key from 5 devices total 5 times?

Thanks.

  •  new retail key is not considered renewal.
  •  new retail key starts new subscription period.
  •  renewal code extends current active subscription.

Re: How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

If you have a new key for the same product you now have, in Norton Management select a device and enter the new key where it says "enter a different key". If that device is online it will update the key on that device and on the Norton Management page. You have to select each device and repeat the process. If the device is not online it should update that device when it does go online. On each device you need to have "remote management" under Admin settings turned on.

Re: How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

Thanks.

Norton Internet Security at desktop warns that subscription is expired and there there appears renew offer.

Next choice is buy a new key or enter key if you have one.

This one is retail package key I guess, at least it has worked for extending subscription or perhaps you are right, it's just starting a new subscription period.

From end user POV it's difficult to notice any difference.

But changing subscription key from Norton management should work.

I'll give it a try next time.

Thanks to all you for support.

Re: How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

Treecomm - If you have Norton Internet Security it only has 3 device licence not 5.   The 5 device licence is for a different product Norton Secury Deluxe.

Because it is different product you first have to remove Norton Internet Security before installing Norton Security.

However once you install Norton Security it looks very similar to Norton Internet Security.

Until about a week ago I had Norton Internet Security (3 device licence) on my three PC/laptops with a subscription ending in February 2017. I contacted Norton Support (via their Chat) and they upgraded my account to Norton Security Deluxe (5 licence) free of charge. Once they had upgraded my account I then had to install Norton Security on each of my devices and uninstall my Norton Internet Security.

So when my subscription for Norton Securiry Deleuxe is about to end in Frebuarry 2017 I can decide to renew via their site or by buying a new key, but whichever way I decide to renew  I don't have to do any installation because I  already have the product on my three PC/laptops.

Hello

Please remember that the subscription period starts from when you install the new key in the first product. The subscription will end at the same time for all of the devices.

Thanks.

Re: How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

Thanks for pointing at this.

I now checked - when following NIS retail package instructions and installing norton.com/setup it reads afterwards Norton Security instead of NIS. And when checking from Menu "About" it's stated Norton Security Deluxe with 5 seats available.

floplot - Valid point, I didn't mention this because the person with the query mentioned their subscription had ended.

Re: How to Update 5 unit license through Norton manage portal?

To answer the original question about entering a new key on the Norton Management site.

From the Norton Management site, choose the device you want to change.

Then under that device, you will see your current product key. Under that, you see a link to Enter a Different Key.  Do this for each of the devices in your subscription.

Then the next time that device connects to the internet, it should get the updated key and new subscription. If not, the user of that device just needs to go to the main Norton screen and click on Help - Subscription Status.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
