I am getting a crash and a blue screen with a stopcode.

I am getting a crash and a blue screen with a stopcode. One was PNP_DETECTED_FATAL_ERROR another was REFERENCE_BY_POINTER. When I follow the QR code it takes me to a Windows site that says the problem is caused by my antivirus software. I am running SolidWorks and Draftsight CAD programs and seems to occur when I am running or have run the programs. It seems also to usually, but not always, happen when the computer goes to sleep or when I lock it.

Need some help. It is really aggravating. I am not an IT person or a programer.

Hello Rick. I would first open an elevated "run" command, run as admin and type in the following: chkdsk /f press enter and allow the checks to run. Then open a new elevated command and type in: sfc /scannow allow the checks to finish to see what both may or may not find and repair. These commands will check both the hard drive for errors as well as the OS files system for corrupted files and repair both if it can.

If you can get boot your system into safe mode, check your system device manager settings, look for and disable ( if present ) Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework. The stop code "PNP detected fatal error" directly references that in this Microsoft article. Reboot.

I would also check for the following: any updates to the OS that may be pending to install and install them, check for your graphics driver being out of date via the OEM website, disable fast startup as well. The stop code reference by pointer is relative to outdated video drivers.

My experience with allowing a computer to sleep and/or hibernate has resulted in system file corruption to the point where I had hard drive failure and had to replace.
