I am receiving an email message containing an invoice file of payment of Norton 360 protection

Hello

Although I do only have the free Norton Password Manager and trail Norton 360 installed on my cellphone, and both are not paid versions, I am notified by this email message from time to time. Even though I don't give them the bank account number of mine, nor does my bank account have that the amount charged for the Norton 360 Security Protection, I see in the invoice that the $361 was paid.

So, I am now asking you if this email message being attached with the invoice PDF file is a virus.

It is a scam email for sure.

You should never respond in any way by phone, chat or email. You should also never click on any links or open any attachments.

You might have received an alert from your trial antivirus program if the pdf contained a virus so I would be somewhat relieved but still on guard for any potential problems on your phone.

Verify that an email you receive from Norton is legitimate

Nothing can stop spam/scams from being sent to your email inbox. All you can do is filter out the obvious spam using a spam filter. Norton's Anti Spam feature can help you with that. And FYI. It is not just fake Norton emails, but also McAfee and Microsoft and probably some other large corporations that have their names attached to scammer's emails.  You can check the email sender against this information. Is this email from Norton legitimate?

Thanks a lot,

No, it doesn't look legitimate email of Norton.  It's wade4378ytf@gmail.com

And yes, I opened the attached file named "invoice" to see what is in it, or otherwise how I can capture the photo of that invoice.

You received spam/scam email.
Just delete the spam/scam email.
Do not interact with the spam/scam email.

  • Never click on links or download attachments from unknown sources.
  • Hover your mouse over the links contained in emails to check if they are legitimate– don’t click unless you are sure they are safe.
  • Question the validity of any email that asks you to submit personal or financial information.
