The rule is one online vault per Norton account.
So, create Norton account(s) per computer/user if that's what you want.
Online Vault should sync to your devices under your Norton account.
ID Safe Standalone > same rule = one online vault per Norton account.
If you might be talking about a Local Vault, then you do not need additional Norton Accounts, as each Local Vault is set up and used by (tied to) each Windows User Account. A different situation than with the Online vault.
Yes I am talking about the Local Vault. I need to know how to set one up for each user that I have downloaded my Norton product for onto their personal computer. When I try it brings up my personal Vault and needless to say I do not want to share my info with others. I have not been able to find how to set up Local Vaults for others. Please help. Thanx
Just to make sure we're on the same page before I go into a long explanation and it is not what you desire. Am I correct thinking you have a few different systems and each system has one user? At present all systems have your personal vault on them and you desire each system to have it's own vault?
It doesn't sound like it, but are you using just one system, with different users on that system?
I'm guessing it is the first case - different PCs (a PC for each user) - if so, is there currently a Local Vault on each system - does it happen to be your personal vault and opens using your password?
Once we have that info, we can decide the best way to go. At present I am thinking we have to delete your vault on each of their system and then create a new vault with a new password for their Local Vault.
Yes it is the first case....a PC for each user...there is a Local Vault on each PC and my personal vault opens with my password on each PC....So yes if you could explain to me how to delete my Vault from their PC's and install their own Vault that would be extremely helpful....Thank you so much
OK! Please review the following and see if you have any questions - prior to doing anything, as things can get complicated. The following is based on the premise that none of the other users already have a vault with passwords.
Before doing anything with your vault on the other systems, log into your Local Vault, go to the Settings (Import/Export Tab) and Export your log-ins in both .dat and csv format. Please save them to a safe location - I usually use a USB Thumb Drive or similar.
Now go to one of systems you need to set up a new Local Vault on. Below is a set of instructions you will be using - be sure to review them and ask if you have any questions.
Reset ID Safe
This may/should also delete your Local Vault (as this is one in the same vault). You will have to go back and recreate your Local Vault on your system. More on this later.
Go to: Settings > Identity Protection > Identity Safe > Configure + The question mark will supply additional info which may assist you (don't miss the extra links to topics at the bottom of that page)
After Configure+, the New Vault creation Vault Password screen will display - create a password for this system's Local Vault and click next - re-enter to verify your new password, click next, create a Hint and proceed. Vault should be created - at this point in time - if you had an Exported Vault for this system you could Import it. If not then you will have to begin by entering your log-in information - or permit ID safe to do it as you go about your normal surfing via the settings.
The next system may/should not have a Local Vault, (reset above), so going to Identity Safe - Configure + should permit you to create a new vault using a different password for this system.
Now on your original system with your Local Vault - it may/should be gone, so you would have to recreate your Local Vault, using the same procedure above and then Importing your data that you saved prior to doing anything.
I know it sounds complicated, but take your time and as I said before - any questions - ask before doing.
Before you are ready to do this, it might be a good idea to print out the instructions so that they are in front of you as you do these procedures. Thanks.
I may be in error with the instructions - you mentioned Local Vault and I thought about what to do with a Local Vault when using the Comcast Norton Security Suite - which only has a Local Vault and the user can not create an Online Vault.
I am not sure what I suggested will work - please tell us more about the Identity Safe you are using on the systems. Are they all a specific version of Norton - such as NAV/NIS/N360/ NS/NSBU/Comcast NSS? Also what version (Support/Help About) are they.
Many thanks to Avjohnnie for the PM questioning my suggestion and getting me to think deeper about retaining the ability to have a Local Vault after Resetting it. At this point in time, hold off for more discussion on this topic. I certainly hope you are not forced to reset the vault and then retrieve the Local Vault's IDDStore2 file - what we call the "Elsewhere" retrieval.
Thought this over and if you are game, you can proceed as I stated above. If for some reason things go sour and we can not end up with new Local Vaults, we can always regress and just back up a few steps and regain a Local Vault via this thread. AKA the "Elsewhere" retrieval.
