I just keep notifications from Norton

I am on the verge of cancelling norton and installing something else having been a user for at least 20 years.

I am fed up with the number of messages I get that I have to click on.  It just used to get on with it in the background.  Plus it says I need to buy additional products which I never used to have to do.

Is it me or is everyone finding norton annoying at the moment?

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

Please switch to Classic view
From Norton tray icon -> click Open Norton 360

Open My Norton for My Norton view
Open Norton 360 for Classic view

Note:
Settings from tray icon opens My Norton Settings.
Settings from Classic view opens Norton 360 Settings.

The latest version of your Norton product opens the My Norton window up on launch. The My Norton window acts as a dashboard where you can view and manage your device security features and other entitlements. However, you can configure Norton to launch the Classic view when you start your Norton product. For more information, read My Norton product looks different.

If your subscription includes Norton Secure VPN but you cannot access the feature, your Norton product is in the Classic view. Access to certain features is available only through the My Norton window. In such cases, you may have to switch between the My Norton window and the Classic view.

Switch to the Classic view is not available on Norton 360 for Gamers.

Switch between My Norton and Classic windows

  1. Start Norton.

If you see the Norton classic window, click My Norton.

  2. In the My Norton window, click the settings icon.

  3. Under Launch View, do one of the following:

    • To view My Norton window during launch, select My Norton.

    • To view classic window during launch, select Classic.

Switch between My Norton and Classic windows from the Windows notification area

  • In the notification area on the taskbar, right-click the Norton icon, and do one of the following:

    • To view My Norton window during launch, select Open My Norton.

    • To view the Classic window during launch, select Open Norton 360.

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

Norton told me they are unable to have a choice of do not ask again in their pop up to turn on VPN so i am getting rid. If they cannot program  a choice they can't be much good at writing anti virus. Don't want them protecting my PC if they are that pathetic.

I have had Norton 20 years and like it and the GUI but not being subjected to advertising pop ups disguised as security.

I know it is marketing though they deny it.  Just adware now.

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

I agree !   It's like Norton is "bait" clicking customers more and more.   I want to be notified if there is a Update for my purchased products, but I don't want to keep getting these notifications that say "Upgrade", thinking this is an update.  If they want to send me an email asking me if I want to purchase an upgrade I am fine with that, but their "bait" clicking notifications I am done with.    It's a way to try to get you to purchase more products, but they don't tell you upfront, hoping you will click on it and unknowingly upgrade.

when my sub ends i am leaving Norton. if they cannot stop a little pop up they can't be much good againt virus threats

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

It is not that they cannot stop the popups. It is the marketing department that seems to be running the company now. They are the ones insisting on all these popups.

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

they told me they cannot turn them off so either they are liars or unable to protect a pc. whichever it is i am done with their adware.

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

What they appear to be saying is that there is no setting in the currently released 360 product that can turn these off. Not that it could not be done if the marketing department would take their sticky fingers out of the equation.

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

They told me on the phone they could not turn them off. There was "no appear to be unable to". The rep who called me told me they could not disable the pop ups. i told him i do not believe that and that it is marketing which he denied so i told him in that case, if they cannot put a choice of do no show again, then i would not want them protecting my pc and will be leaving when my sub ends

Someone should start a campaign to highlight this or a petition to change it. Or else dump norton. The customer is king

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

There are many many threads on these pop ups. And Norton has so far ignored all of them. Don't blame the first line support people when there is nothing they can do about it.

Re: I just keep notifications from Norton

They could tell the truth insread of insulting people by saying they cannot make  a program have a "do not ask again" option. And it was the person who phoned me i told. I have no control over who phoned me. i would tell any one who called me. i will be telling the CEO why i am dumping Norton
