I upgraded from my existing NIS08 to NIS09,and then it tells me "unable to activate" WHAT?
Okay, so I have a pretty simple issue here, that ends up being pretty complicated. So, I found out today that NIS2009 was out, so I thought "Hey, I'll upgrade from 2008 to 2009, it usually works fine after all". Uh-oh. I was wrong. I mean, the installation went pretty well and everything seems to work better than on the 2008 version. It's just that, well, the product key I bought two months ago, well... it doesn't seeem to work anymore. It tells me that I "have exceeded the number of allowable installations using this product key"... what? I bought this key two months ago! And NIS2008 was working fine until now, and it's not like I did anything to my machine between uninstalling the 2008 version and installing the 2009 version. So...why? It's telling me to either buy a new key, which I refuse to do since I JUST bought one, or to send my product back along with a printable internet form for verification, which seems to be a very long process, especially the last PHYSICAL copy of NIS I own is the 2006 version, and that version is sitting around in a drawer that is approximatively 11 hours away from here (and no, I am not kidding, I don't move everything along with me when I move to the university). So... am I done for or what? I DID reformat my computer and changed my HDD (at the same time) shortly after buying this new license, but why would it be alright for the 2008 version and not 2009 is beyond me...
