ID Safe for Firefox ONLY

ID Safe for Firefox ver. 1.2.47.5 has been working smoothly for some time.  It is a relief to have this functionality back again.  However, it works in Firefox ONLY.  Each time Firefox is opened, the Vault must be opened.  Each time Firefox is closed, the Vault is closed and not available for other programs that require logins.  I can open and use the Vault from NIS outside of Firefox, but then it is not accessible inside Firefox.  Since I normally open and close Firefox multiple times each day (for security and other reasons), this makes ID safe barely worth using.

Long ago, the Vault could be opened once and it remained available to all programs, including Firefox, until the machine was powered off.  Is there any chance of future revisions restoring this?

I would like to add that Amazon.com,Ebay.com,and a few other websites require me to sign in to the identity safe every time I leave the website and return to it (without closing Firefox).

Re: ID Safe for Firefox ONLY

The new ID Safe extension for FF is not connected with the ID Safe functions of Norton Security products, except for using the same online vault. Thus your observation of being able to use the vault from IE or Chrome, and not in FF. And the opposite is also true.

The vault closing when FF is closed is by design. Although the FF extension is still a work in progress, it is hoped there will be more options in Settings in a future version that will allow more control over when the vault closes.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: ID Safe for Firefox ONLY

Peter, I hope you are right about more options in the future.  As it is, The ID Safe extension is really designed for people who spend their entire life in FireFox.  In my case, I need logins for programs that do not use a browser and also need to use Internet Explorer for at least one program.  I can leave Firefox open while I use these programs, but some Firefox programs require me to close the browser for security reasons.  Net result: the ID Safe extension works well but is, for me, of only marginal utility.  I sincerely hope this can be rectified.
