ID Safe Settings missing 2 tabs

Hi, Along with other continuing issues since the latest NIS update, it's been discovered that when opening ID Safe settings reveals 2 tabs missing, one for Proxy Settings and the other for About. So, something is clearly wrong with this latest update, as this is showing up on a brand new HP machine. The other issue of Norton not being able to communicate with FF 29 extensions to determine if they're enabled/disabled is still there as well, with the message under ID Safe Settings, Browser Extensions: "Mozilla Firefox (default browser):status could not be determined". Sure, may be not that big of a deal, "not an issue", according to Norton support, but, with combined issues we're having, not sure of the reliability of the product we've paid for here. Also, there continues to be this long stretch of time to see any resolution. Blame seems to be attempted to be put on Mozilla, but simply, I don't see it, as all ran well while on FF 28, until the NIS update, then the Norton Toolbar and this new version 'cloud' Vault has made it frustrating and useless. Also interesting, seems to be all 'OK' on spouses comp; no freeze up, 2 missing tabs are there, status message says 'OK', so what's going on Norton? This is on a brand new machine, brand new freshly installed NIS, brand new freshly installed FF, running on a brand new freshly installed Win7 comp, and as soon as ID Safe is logged into, there's the remaining problem. The problem lies inside ID Safe with whatever happened when Norton updated NIS and brought on this new version of its Vault, not Mozilla Firefox. So Norton, all I can say is, after many days and many hours spent with you and support, get engineering involved and fix your product!

Re: ID Safe Settings missing 2 tabs

I'm not sure about the "Proxy Settings tab, but the About tab is only available on the stand-alone Identity Safe.

I'm using Norton 360 and here's what mine looks like.

I have also got Firefox installed and as you can see I get the same result as you.  This doesn't affect using the vault though.

I'm sorry if I've misunderstood you.

Re: ID Safe Settings missing 2 tabs

HI Norton Fighter, No, you understood what I wrote. Your screen shot looks like mine here, less the local to cloud option. Interesting, the 2nd level Norton tech didn't mention that the About tab was only for the stand alone. When he was looking at my current status, he mentioned that he saw the two tabs after Browsing were missing, the Proxy and About. Yes, so far, doesn't seem to effect the use of the Vault, but I do still get intermittent times where the Toolbar does lock up and I'll have to restart FF to get it to work again. Strangely, doesn't happen every time though. I guess the issue has been turned over to Engineering and I should be hearing something in the next 7-10 days. Thing is, it does work between Norton and FF 29, as the status, functionality, etc is there OK on my spouse's machine. So, I'm really curious as to what it may be on the few machines out there having this issue that is keeping the two from communicating this status? Something in between the two is messing with it that is only popping up on some machines. Thank you for sharing your situation, and may we soon find some resolution.

Re: ID Safe Settings missing 2 tabs

Hi BB10QNX,

You continue to mention the update to NIS and now you are talking about TABS in the Stand Alone ID Safe.  I had a situation   awhile ago where I somehow managed to have both the Stand Alone ID Safe and NIS installed on the same system.

It seems I elected to keep the free Norton Toolbar as one of the uninstall options and then installed NIS with the free version of NTB still installed.  I thougyht the free version was supposed to go dormant when NIS was instaled - but I did end up with some weird displays of icons in sys tray and other weird things.  I believe I eventually foudn the NTB located in Prograsma nd Features and removed it all was back to normal.

Now with all that said - could that also be your situation??

OK, this is what the Stand-alone ID Safe looks like, note the Network Proxy and About tabs.

Edit : I notice that the vault buttons become unresponsive in Firefox as well.  Symantec are aware of the issue and are working on it, but it may not be resolved in the next 7 to 10 days though.  As you've noticed, restarting FF brings functionality back.

Re: ID Safe Settings missing 2 tabs

Hi Yank, I hadn't noticed the 2 tabs missing previously because I was unaware of them. It was the Norton support tech that was looking at our situation with the extension message, noticed it and mentioned it, before the Stand Alone was installed in an attempt to see if it would resolve the other issue with the extension message. I continue to mention the NIS update because when I was running FF 28 and NIS 'prior to' the NIS/ID Safe/Vault update, ID Safe/the NTB functionality was fine, now, it's not. The tech went through a complete, deep removal/reinstall of NIS, as well as FF, didn't resolve it. They then installed the Stand Alone and then removed it, thus there is currently no NTB or ID Safe in Programs and Settings, meaning that's not currently the situation here ;-). As mentioned, the issue is now off to engineering.
