Re: id safe will not install on toolbar in firefox

The Norton Toolbar is now partially compatible with Firefox 41 & 42. We have released a Firefox 41 & 42 compatibility patch for Norton Security 22.5.4.24, Norton Security with Backup 22.5.4.24, Norton Internet Security, Norton 360, Norton Antivirus 22.5.4.24 & Norton Security Suite 22.5.4.24 which is available via Live Update.

1) This patch will enable the Web-Protection functionalities of the Norton Toolbar such as: Safe Web, Anti-Phishing, Safe Search

2) There will be a separate firefox patch to add the Identity Safe functionalities such as: Logins, Cards, Share via etc.,  NO ETA

RE: Norton Identity safe could not be verified for operation with Firefox.
Proceed with caution message: indicates new version 2015.5.6.76 signature needs to be verified by Mozilla.
Norton is working with Firefox to get the Toolbar verified soon and a separate patch will be released to address this.

Having issues with Firefox 39 as well. Add-ons shows Identity Safe 2015.5.6.76. No tool bar after many live updates and restarts.

39 may not be supported.  Norton historically supports three FF versions. e.g., 40, 41, 42 dropping off 39 with support for 42.

Hello

Mohan's Announcement on top shows # 6 This patch will support Firefox 38 through 42. So FF39 should work.

Thanks.

Re: id safe will not install on toolbar in firefox

That is all well and good, but the fact remains, it is not working with FF v39, I installed FF v40, guess what? Does not work. I have live updated out the ass, far too many restarts to count and nothing. Unless there is something that I am missing.... But the principle of the thing is, an update release that causes these kinds of problems, kinda seems like Norton is just saying give me your money, you might get something that works, might not. Might work in a week or two.... Might not.

Re: id safe will not install on toolbar in firefox

This is the third time this has been a issue between the two since I bought the product several years ago and each time it is out for months. I delayed upgrading firefox for almost two months to avoid it but once again we are in the same non functional status. Quite irritating. I understand that there is very complicated issues when it comes to two programs working seamlessly but each time this happens the consumers have raised a stink. You would think they would make a plan to avoid this from occurring again with future updates.

That's the "plan" currently under construction.  Re-build release date is unknown.

It seems they wait to rebuild only after the issue is known after the update instead of having a rebuild prepared. Yes there comes problems with getting the appropriate info from the publishing company before they release their own updates that may affect Norton's compatibility but it is not impossible.

Now about a month later...... still no fix,

almost time to renew Norton, maybe time to consider another company!!!

WHAT'S UP NORTON??????

Re: id safe will not install on toolbar in firefox

It has been more than a month. Here is a link to what I think is the original statement from Symantec....

https://community.norton.com/en/forums/firefox-41-and-norton-toolbar-com...

Dated Sept 22nd.

I have tried many versions of Firefox, up to and including the latest version, and I cannot get any compatibility with any of them. I had a partial on 39, then it disappeared when I closed and restarted Firefox. 39 is the version I am using now. Someone posted elsewhere about LastPass. I have downloaded it today and using it as a password manager. So far so good. A PITA to get all your passwords loaded but it works. Will use it until Norton either figures it out or my renewal comes up. Not holding out much hope for Norton. They have until May of 2016.....

Re: id safe will not install on toolbar in firefox

Hello Amos

I should think that Symantec should have the Toolbar ready by then. It should be ready before then. You do have to remember that the Toolbar does contain more than just the password manager.  I do agree that it should not be taking this long to fix it. I still do have confidence in Symantec and I use the parts of the program that I want to use. There are many customers who use LastPass and also the Norton product because Symantec is primarily a security company. The password manager is something extra to the program.

Thanks.

Re: id safe will not install on toolbar in firefox

Hello floplot,

I have yet to complain about Symantec as a security company, I have no issues in that regard. Perhaps you missed the sarcasm of my last two sentences. I should hope they can sort it out in the next 6 months. It's only been 3 months so far. As for the toolbar being extra, it is still bought and paid for and does not work. You will never get me to agree that that situation is ok no matter how you spin it.

Thanks.
