ID Safe Won't open from Chrome Toolbar

Hi,

I cannot open my ID Safe from the Chrome toolbar, when I click it I get a small window open saying 'Upgrade your Identity Safe Extension' but when I click that button nothing happens. The same happens when I try to open it in IE and also directly from my Norton UI, the same window opens and again nothing happens on clicking this button.

I have checked the versions of the toolbar, mine is V 2018 13.2.21. The ID safe is V.1.0.5

I am running W10 Home, Norton Security V. 22.12.1.14

I was thinking just to delete both from the Chrome extensions page and then re enabling them but if anyone has any better ideas I would like to hear them please.

Regards

Same problem here.  They know they screwed it up but they are not in any hurry to fix it.  I Live Updated  to  V 22.12.1.15 but that hasn't resolved the issue.

Anybody got a better Anti Virus?  I know I can find a better autofill.

If you want any chance to have ID Safe to work from the Toolbar, DO NOT delete the ver 1.0.5 ID Safe extension. That is the only one that allows access from the Toolbar. If you do delete it, you will  not be able to find it again.

Having said that. The Norton Security versions 22.12.1.x. activated changes to the way the ID Safe interacts with your browsers. Norton is trying to kill the local vault, and the only way to  access the local vault is through the Toolbar. So the changes in the latest NS have disabled the ID Safe functions in the Toolbar. You now have to use the new browser extensions using the ID Safe icon to the right of the browser address bar. And then, it will only work with a cloud vault.

Only way to get Local ID Safe access in a browser is to use IE.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: ID Safe Won't open from Chrome Toolbar

Hi peterweb,

Even when I try and use the icon to the right of toolbar I get an 'error 404', from Chrome stating 'The requested URL was not found on this server'.

I am also concerned that I can't access the vault from within the Norton UI as I mentioned in my original post. Happy days! I have been on the cloud vault for a couple of years now by the way.

Cheers

And the obvious question...Have you restarted your computer a couple of times?

And you do have the newer ID Safe extension ver 5.2.1.2 installed and enabled?

I answered your other thread on accessing your vault from your NS product.

Re: ID Safe Won't open from Chrome Toolbar

I have restarted the pc a few times before now.

I have version 1.0.5 ID Safe extension (You told me not to delete this as it is the only version that allows access from the toolbar).

Saw your reply on the other thread thanks!

Re: ID Safe Won't open from Chrome Toolbar

Not sure if I am just lucky, but with ID Safe version 1.0.5 I can still get to my cloud vault from the Toolbar.

From what I have read, I should not be able to do this.

Maybe some temporary server issues between you and Norton.???  I'll check back with you tomorrow.

Re: ID Safe Won't open from Chrome Toolbar

I will show this thread as solved as I did what you suggested on my other post in that I ran the Norton Remove Norton Restore tool and that appears to have fixed the issue of not being able to open the ID safe from the toolbar.

I am still running the older version and therefore cannot access from the new small icon from the right of the toolbar, but using the old button in the middle of the Norton toolbar is ok still!

Best Regards
